Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

As well all know, the .Gif is an image type that supports animation.
The real question is, how do we pronounce it?? The person behind .Gif says it should be called "Jiff", while grammar-wise it should be called "Ghiff".
who cares! They make the world a better place.

Giff, as in "gift" (you don't pronounce it "jift", do you).

You don't pronounce giant "guy-ant" do you? or gin with a hard g? People choose gift because it's one letter difference but unless it's a silent e or a ph, letters that come after don't affect the ones that come before. It can go either way following the rules of English and acronyms don't have a set pronunciation anyway. Ultimately it's up to the creators.

GIF is an acronym for Graphics Interchange Format so i believe each letter should be pronounced separately (jiff or "gee ai eph")

Soft G's are pointless. It steals the purpose of the letter J, similarly to what C does to S and K.

gif isn't a word. It's an abbreviation. You would pronounce the G the same way you would in graphics.
Didn't the dude who made this **** release an article on how it's really pronounced?

gif isn't a word, it's an acronym. They have no defined pronunciation but if you're going to insist on made up rules then at least be consistent by pronouncing "JPEG" as "jay-feg" or "SCUBA" as (scuh-ba) or literally any of a thousand other acronyms.

Yeah, and he said jif. He had a whole slogan, "Choosy developers choose gif" and in an old gif manual he said "incidentally, it's pronounced jif"

How does an inaccurate comment indicate mental disorder?

True, but gift is. But not giant like you said because English is arbitrary like that. I think there's a good reason to pronounce it with hard G—graphics is. Meanwhile, the only justification behind the soft G is that the creator says so (if what you say is correct). I think that's kind of a weak reason, because I don't think a single person should be responsible for how a single word is pronounced if there's a way to pronounce it that make more sense (from what I understand).

"gi" has a soft g roughly the same amount of time that it has a hard g. Either is a completely valid pronunciation according to the english language.

giant is just as valid as gift and gin and gills.

It's pronounced "gif".
And you know why? Because the way of pronouncing an acronym as a word isn't defined. There may be a consensus or a majority, but nothing more. I could pronounce it "Gee-yiff" (ha) and I still wouldn't be "wrong", because there isn't a "right".
One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

Graphics is a hard G so...

The argument that graphics has a hard g is beyond ridiculous and if any of you bring it up again I will do literally nothing.
