Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

[Contest] Story interpretation of H.P. Lovecraft "The Dunwich Horror"

Hi,

title sais all, you gotta interpretate and make an EE map based on the story of H.P. Lovecrafts The Dunwich Horror which you can find here for example http://www.hplovecraft.com/writings/tex … on/dh.aspx

Rules
-No silly spike overloaded minis
-Map must suit my skills which are "Medium"
-Story driven [no sign overload please, be creative, use art or so]
-Teams up to 3 people allowed. However, judging will be stricter for teams due to advantages over a single creator
-Map size  400x200 or 300x300 or 200x400 (vertical)
-Contest is held when 10 or more join and! submit a map at the end

Contest Info:
Sing up time limit: 23rd of January
Winning price:
Winner gets a steam game/s of your choice, worth around the usual price of 60 euros or so [If you really want EE gems instead of a steam game just let me know]
Time Limit: End of Monday 3rd of April GMT. Shortly afterwards I announce the winner.

No further rules: Just make a map based on the given Lovecraft story. I will personally judge the world at my discretion for things like art (minimap as well), gameplay, story etc. If you know me its a big bonus because you know I dislike hookjumps, spikes and such stuff //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink

Any reason for restricting the map size in such a way? Quantity <> Quality

Wow I'm impressed. No really, this is nothing to scoff at.

Fair enough, almost 3 months to make whatever you want.

Story writing seems to be the wrong term.
Little hint: I will just dismiss maps with tons of signs - thats not story telling imo. Be creative, use artworks to express something, tell the story, guide the player //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink

@Evilbunny
I deciced to change the time limit to the end of 3rd of April so people can use the full weekend to fine-tune their map. Hope this helps.

@Alphajon
Yes, 400x200 or 300x300 only prevents people from using small maps which I would possibly just dismiss for any reasons - sorry to tell ya.
Its a rather long time to work on the map, furthermore the winning price is quite big - as well as the actualy story to interpretate. Its not easy to read up and understand.
I want to see something epic //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink

@Gosha
Even when I wish I could, I cannot give you any summary of the story - this would be unfair torward those who would like to participate in the contest.
The whole point is to carefully read up this pretty old story with its own writing style which can be descriped as "old englsh". There are words people do not even know anymore.
Consider it a challenge //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/wink

I edited the ruls a bit to clear up a few things.

Re: [Contest] Story interpretation of H.P. Lovecraft "The Dunwich Horror"

Quick question, does it have to be about the provided story, or can it be a unique story based on the general themes of Lovecraft's work?

No big deal either way, I can work with either, I was just wondering so I can figure out ideas etc
