Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Mobile-friendly forums

I'd like to see the forums more mobile-friendly and responsive. But that's just me because I use a phone to view the forums most of the time.

Re: Mobile-friendly forums

Split off into its own topic, Update Discussion is not for suggestions.

Yes please, would be so great not having to zoom in on every link to then unzoom to scroll the topic to then zoom again to read it

Re: Mobile-friendly forums

Never done anything mobile-friendly before so this isn't going to take some time and effort. My current stylish theme for the forums seemed like it would lend itself to becoming mobile friendly fairly easily so I've based my first draft on that. I spent most of today converting the stylish draft into an actual CSS theme that wasn't constantly overriding itself. I was planning on getting some homework done today but so much for that idea. I don't have a name for it yet, I haven't actually tested it on a phone yet, and I think I need to add a bit of HTML to make phones accept it as a mobile friendly site, but you can check out what I have now under Profile>Display. Feedback is welcome and sorely needed.

Webm preview is here: https://my.mixtape.moe/hesvtn.webm

EDIT: currently on my phone and this seems nice.
EDIT: On an iPad now and this is way better than any of the other themes.

Re: Mobile-friendly forums

Added a dark version of the theme it's just the normal theme but with different colors which I mean basically all the themes here are just color changes so I guess that makes it normal. Still need feedback and name suggestions.

Around "PLACEHOLDER" theme needs new name.
I can suggest one. It is called Metro.

looks cool

is the general idea to require the user to opt to the mobile style? That is, no automatic determination for the mobile device? I use both mobile and desktop screens and don't mind the current situation, but it seems standard that websites do the picking for you

but I can see that might pose an issue in the current style-picking system.

I could put a link at the bottom or somewhere that you'd click to set a cookie that would tell the forums to override your normal theme with the appropriately colored PLACEHOLDER theme.

They look fine to me but I've been using this avatar size for like a month now. I can change that though.

Re: Mobile-friendly forums

Chrome is artificially blowing up the size of some of the text making the avatars even smaller. See how stuff like the debug text and Quick Reply and Suibscribe to this topic are super huge while actually useful stuff like the Edit/Delete/Flag links are all tiny? That's because all it can do is guess what it should be enlarging and it's very wrong very often.

EDIT: Found a thing to tell chrome to knock it off with the text resizing, added it to both mobile themes.

EDIT: it doesn't work, I found some documentation that says while chrome has this option to disable FontBoost Technology, it ignores it in all cases. Would it be bad if I just didn't support chrome on Android? Use a browser with a more sane solution than resizing fonts semi randomly. Like Opera, which supports reflow/re-wrapping so that it always fits the screen, or Firefox which has the same thing in add-on form. I prefer Firefox but I will say that opera's text re-wrapping is pretty nice.

Re: Mobile-friendly forums

Renamed mobile themes to Flax and Flax Dark because that's what I ended up calling my desktop theme which the website theme is based off of. But I named my desktop theme Flax because flax is blue and so is my desktop. Also messed around a bit with switching over the responsiveness bits from resolution based to DPI based.

Finally device support now works for me. Thanks!
