i dont play ee anymore and most if not all of you know that. now sure i could finally get those 2010 xmas/new decorations... but for what. i havent went into a level and played in months. i havent made a level in years

im holding another competition. and art one. get our your mouses/tablets. no specifics yet, but if anyone wants to run it with me contact me on the forums and tell me in irc or whatever

The wording on question 6 was so weird that I didn't even understand the question. I still managed to find relevant info thanks to google, but had no idea what info was needed.
I'm not interested in the gems, I just did the quiz for fun.

0. Copy the code, paste it in.
1. Originally I was going to require the user to user their browser console to remove the disabled attribute from the button. But a friend said that was a bit difficult so I added in the classic "haha I was being literal" trope instance. Clicking "the button" would enable the button.
2. The idea here was really vague. I took many different negative answers: no, wrong, invalid, false... hopefully anything that showed you saw the error.
3. A rather direct "impossible quiz" reference, "can a match box" is met with "no but a tin can"... googling would enable those without the reference to figure.
4. This (with its own category) was more heavily a puzzle based on reference. Evidently not a whole lot of people knew of the comment. Users would load a forum topic and look at the source. around 33% (I think) of users would get the right message... the rest would just have to refresh. Those who still didn't know the reference could easily search "KILLJOY" on the forums (via google) and find the thread that showed the message in question. The question just used some odd wording to emphasize "fun" or "my fun."
5. I overlaid an image that really didn't stump anyone. Here I thought it'd be real clever to hide a message in plain sight. Personally I used flood fill, but I'm sure y'all had interesting methods. The secret message? "secretmessage123"
6. IMO the largest mistake I made in this competition was level six. It assumed a knowledge of USA/UK/Canada nuclear weapons development history. Benefit of the doubt extended to the users that such knowledge isn't commonly held around the world, so I ended up laying out "it's one of the new york boroughs"
7. I divided a three-word rock band name up into three clues, which (as smittyw cleverly divined and shared with everyone) could be answered with perhaps only one or two of the clues. The third derivative was three, a fortnight has fourteen days, so a fourteenth is a day, and the definition of grace, well, I put that in there. lol
8. This one was a bit of a tip of the hat to any developers... atilla's post I mentioned talked of ROT13, which just rotates characters in a string (but not numbers). So the user just had to find that function online and use it
9. Fibonacci was fun for me. It seemed relatively straightforward to me that the important values of the "cipher" of sorts, was to check in the string at the various numbers in the fibonacci sequence. Given that I didn't think my "implementation" was up to spec, I gave an example that showed the exact positions of characters which would line up with the positions of the important characters for the next round.
10. Simply required understanding what exponents mean.
11. I liked this one. Did I mention that? I made reference to volume changes in music. Then, in speech, we have volume changes on particular words. One might've noticed that there were twenty words and for the most part, puzzle answers were 20 characters. Then we'd have one character from each word. Words intrinsically have emphasis on louder syllables, so one could try taking a letter from each emphasis. Then I added more hints.
12-14. Ciphers: I defined the rotation pool a user had to work with. I explicitly defined them as forward or backwards. The user simply had to determine three things as I stated them: Do I rotate? If yes, which direction? Do I reverse? Luckily people didn't have to worry about rotating 62 times because I said only once. The ciphers were once backwards no reverse, no rotation and reverse, once forwards and reverse.
15. Cipher D. I said the numbers were special. This one was a bit of a stretch, but each number defined a useless substring to remove. A few hints helped clear that up. I guess a maths person might notice that the length of the cipher was 20 + number of numbers + sum of numbers. But I didn't feel like waiting that long.
16. Someone brought up Samuel Morse while I was piecing this together. Felt like including the fun fact that he was apparently primarily an artist by trade.
17. A zero-distance rotation.

A few things:
I had 1 full beta test and 1 half beta test on this, and while they might not have enjoyed it, they survived. (sans hints)... just saying

I'm bummed y'all aren't taking advantage of the black friday deals because that's why I rushed things. But ok

hope someone had fun with this. I'll probably do more, shorter, and with lots of planning. hehe

Yeah, except 9 was broken. There were two 'A's in the string but the code skipped the first 'A'. The only way I passed it was by refreshing the page and comparing the newly generated strings to reveal pattern. Also it only used 'FIBONA' instead of 'FIBONACCI' which was weird.

if you viewed source you'd see that the stylesheet just failed and the example was actually longer
