All and any blocks (except boost,coins,crowns,trophies and other blocks that don't block the player) will work.
BTW i found the bug

Btw it is not a bug really.
data about sign was removed, but you have to leave to see that there is no sign.

Ice Block and Empty Text
My coming across this glitch/bug was by pure curiousness.
I was messing around with the sign block in one of my worlds when I got an idea, why not place a block over the text sign whilst I'm standing behind it.
So I did, I placed the sign, stood behind it and placed a block. The result, rather intriguing.
This little experiment resulted in my smiley being hidden behind an ice block (not the one I placed, but I'm going to presume it placed that as it was the last one in my "Actions" tab) with a black text bubble above my head, why this happened, I'm not sure.
Sure is weird, not a major bug. Worth checking out though
