Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: mandela effect

Common misconceptions aren't an effect, nor does parallel or alternate universes pose any sort of credible explanation.
Ultimately, you shouldn't attempt to explain some phenomena which could be easily explained as plain ignorance.

Additionally, when I was younger, I had a similar eulogy upon reading the berenstain bears and questioned the spelling in comparison to words with the same pronunciation, for example Albert Einstein.

Re: mandela effect

atilla is the only one who has replied seriously so i will too

a couple months back i looked at the mandela effect for a week or so and learned about it, mostly through conpiracy theorists. i came to the conclusion that is all ****. the mandela effect is simply an effect, it is not real. cern is not changing reality, froot loops wasnt spelled fruit loops, mayer not meyer (zoey), etc. if you have any mandela effect that seems to perplex you or whatever then post it here and ill debunk it kthx

I find that a lot of these Mandela effects are similar to this. Looney Tunes/Looney Toons, Skechers/Sketchers, Febreze/Febreeze are all examples that I've heard (these are just what my friends have told me, dunno what others are saying) and they are related to a weird spelling. Looney Tunes is a cartoon so you would expect "Toons". Skechers is similar to "sketch" which is spelt with a 't'. Febreze has "breeze" so we think the brand should be Febreeze. Anyway, I believe this is something called reconstructive memory which has been studied many times in the past by psychologists.

"Reconstructive memory is a theory of elaborate memory recall proposed within the field of Cognitive Psychology, in which the act of remembering is influenced by various other cognitive processes including perception, imagination, semantic memory and beliefs, amongst others."
source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconstructive_memory

A famous example of a study investigating reconstructive memory, is Bartlett's "War of The Ghosts" study in 1932. Participants (British) were told a Native American folk tale called War of The Ghosts and then asked to retell it to others. Bartlett found that when the story was retold, parts of the story were omitted, especially parts concerning spirits and mysticism. Also, over generations of retellings, the story became more consistent with the norms of western culture. It can be concluded that the story was changed so that they made more sense in the participant's mind - i.e. matched with their culture and beliefs. I believe the same principle can be applied to some examples of the mandela effect. If we are used to a certain way of spelling of something, a memory of something like Berenstain might be changed to something that makes sense - Berenstein (-stein being a common suffix for names).
