you're upset that your edit text still proudly displays your anon username, which for some reason you decided to use in the first place. OF course, we're not sure why you chose that, you're not sure why you chose that, given you turned it back to regular discussion format.

This username display bug bothers you enough that you posted it here, when you're capable of changing the username back to your own through the editing process. I don't deny it's a bug, so I'm not locking this thread and letting out a maniacal cackle. However, I do emphasize it's something you can fix. No, you can't edit the source code of the forums to fix the entire process for all users. Ha ha, you have got me there1! But, you can at least fix the root problem: the username display bugs you.

Can't particularly say I'm feeling like fixing this one. The edited_by field in the database is actually stored as a username, not as a user ID. And it's impossible to reverse an anonymous username back into the username it used to be. So you could probably make an educated guess by seeing if the OP's username anonymizes into edited_by but then all the times when OP is edited by someone else like a mod would still be broken so what's even the point?

Bump, what if we made anon permanent? You turn it on or off at post time and it stays that way forever?

yes just edit the first post and uncheck the box.

Made anonymity permanently set when you post it and fixed a bug where all option boxes would be unchecked when you went to edit the post.

Sweet. Currently it seems that editing the OP of an anonymous thread automatically sets it to public, regardless of checkbox.
