Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

So as you may have noticed, the PMs system is being remodeled soon. So now's a good time to suggest any new features you may want in the new system. Post anything that flies into your head as long as it's not 100% stupid. It's not every day that the PMs system gets redone, so let's do it right.
Suggestions:
The ability to block users.
The option to have the forum completely block PMs from blocked users AND/OR
The option to not be emailed if the sender is blocked.
The ability to add users to a friends list.
The option to be emailed only if the sender is a friend.
The ability to invite new people to conversations.
Features of the new system:
The ability to leave conversations.
The ability to edit, delete, and quote PMs just like you can in topics.
Privacy from moderators/administrators unless given access.
The ability to sort your PMs into folders.
Rejected suggestions/antifeatures:
Wooting in PMs. Wooting doesn't make much sense in the context of PMs.
Unlimited receivers. We have to draw the line somewhere. Where the line is is up to you guys though. I like 10, 10's a good number.
Please discuss the suggestions and suggest any you have yourself.
This topic is temporarily stickied and will stay stickied until the new PMs system is considered safe for daily use.

With how the remodel is being done this might happen anyways, but being able to see the edit times of comments in PMs

Yeah I intend to add that. Not sure why it isn't being done now but it'll be done going forward.
EDIT: Also, what do you guys think about blocking/friends lists in PMs? (We actually have a similar feature now. Check out "Contacts" in the PM menu.)
If blockfriendlists were added, what would happen if someone you blocked sent you a group PM? Would you reject the whole thing? Would it be better just to not send an email notification if a PM comes from a blocked user?
And would Sending lists like we have on the system now be wanted/used? IMO they seem like a pretty useful feature but I can't say I've ever had the opportunity to use them. Is there anyone here who has?
EDIT2: It looks like there have been a few people who have toyed around with sending lists, but it doesn't look like a very heavily used feature. Should this just be left out?

Could you have folders within the inbox? On forums like IP.board you can sort your messages into different folders, like new messages, draft messages, sent/received, or make your own folders to sort how you want.

Hm. I kinda like this idea because it makes me feel less bad about having a whole table just for ownership information since I could also store folder numbers in there. I'm going to go ahead and accept this idea.

I rarely use the PM system, so my suggestion may look weird, but I think when starting a new PM/"private topic", the one who started could be considered owner of said topic, and have the ability to remove someone from the list of people who can see the PM/topic (maybe also add people to topic, but some people in the topic might not like the fact that anytime someone might suddelny be able to read it)

Yeah, good point. In that case perhaps people will only be able to leave conversations, not join them. I've moved inviting new nubs to conversations to suggestions instead of features.

I don't like more pages when 25 messages are reached. I just want a loooong list of all messages on 1 page.
I see I can set a custom amount of posts on 1 page under Profile menu -> Display, but this applies to forums posts and PM! Make it seperate please.

This.
I receive a ton of PMs and it's a pain to have to have to delete them with 4 clicks per deletion each time because you can't select them all in 1 go.

Will do but for the record, with the current PM system you can delete a page of PMs at a time from the inbox.

Say if I have one unread pm. I click on it, and am viewing the pm. In the corner, it still says "One unread pm!" even though I already read it. The only way to get rid of it is to refresh or go back and refresh. Maybe it'd be nice to not have that notice there when I don't have any unread pm's left.

When you click a post like where it says "yesterday" or whatever, it doesn't take you to the post, just the top of the PM.

So uh I guess that PM behavior is probably something like firing the DB queries out of order, huh? shucks.
@frog: yeah, I was thinking about that, too. A direct post link includes an anchor, but PMs don't do that. Could we?

Having a way to save your pm's would be nice too for records sake. Going through every pm and trying to highlight the entire webpage and then paste it into a microsoft word document isn't the best.
Also: is there supposed to be a maximum of 10 or 9 receivers? The PM window says 9, but diff says 10. Is this a planned feature?

Looks like a bug, should be easy to fix.
Silent editing in pm's is not very nice (and there doesn't appear to be an option to disable it.)
Not going to add features to the old PMs system. The old PMs system doesn't have this functionality and it won't be added.

Which PM behavior?

This topic is for suggestions for the new PMs system that is and will probably forever be under construction, not for bug reports or suggestions for the current system. The new PMs system will probably initially allow 10 people to participate in a conversation.
So I guess the answer is yes, it's a planned feature.

Diff the behavior I speak of is the 'you have a message' appearing while viewing that new message. I THINK that happens. Idk
I was able to replicate it and it DOES happen when viewing a new unread message.

You lazy person! We - EE Community wait for UnityEE one year. You - can't wait for something 2 months. You must work better!
P.S. Not that I can do that in any way
