Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: Ads.

For this kind of stuff I recommend you put a clear header on the forum like you did with the account migration. I don't think many people read this section.

The ads.js idea didn't work, it loaded correctly. Tried a few different names, they all worked fine. AdBlock seems to block all the scripts I tried that detect the height of the ad container, though, but while I was typing this reply I thought of another idea brb.

Just use AdGuard to avoid ads.

If you want to, that's your choice, but the forums are run off of the revenue the ads produce for us. That and donations. We'd really appreciate it if you didn't use an adblocker, or if you would disable adblock on forums.everybodyedits.com.

+7 thank

In other news, the forums bills have been paid again. We're good for the next 3 months.

Approx how much does it cost to run a forum of such dimensions? And how would such expenses be divided upon domain costs, electricity, etc...

The problem with 18+ ads is that I almost always end going in.

This is a false statement.

Depends on who's hosting. With our current hosting plan, it costs $7 per quarter and I don't see any reason to upgrade from that now that we've moved to a quieter node. The domain's free (for me, anyway. Not sure how much it's costing the EE people).

It's a dating site, not a porno. Dating sites are always 18+.

Re: Ads.

Put up another message asking users to disable adblock, this time it's always there and just gets hidden by the advertisement when it loads. Let me know if there are any issues.

EDIT: Found one all by myself, fixing.

If you look at it properly, i removed the "Powered by FluxBB" box and the advertisiment box. I also removed the descriptions of each one of the forums. For me they are useless.

A serious query relating to Ads

What needs funding through advertisements if they're hosted on the ee domain?

The hosting itself costs money. Not a lot, just $7/quarter, but it is a non-zero amount.

If you like, sure.

Re: Ads.

Why does the ads need javascript turned on?
HSpZH8f.png

I would enable to see ads. But when they use a javascript I don't see a reason to support it.

Re: Ads.

Did you change anything because I just got an auto-play video ad that wouldn't mute, I have to mute the whole tab.
N9tQX5y.png
it also made my page keep scrolling up to the top, not a fan. You can't pause it either so if you can do anything to avoid me getting video ads like this that would be nice.
