Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

By widening the number of basic blocks - the "yellow" basic block can live alongside a real yellow basic block.
Current basic blocks fit into this spectrum but also allow for true soft colours.
Also breaking the connection to Mario.
Edit: this post is not about taking the graphics and putting them straight in - it's more about the idea, the basic blocks don't have to look the way they do and there can be more expansion.

What? The brick, grass, metal, and generic packages all have more relation to Mario than the basic pack.
They could all do with a make-over too, I'm just not the best pixel artist.

If we were to remove all legally questionably references in graphics, every single smiley would have to be remade.

Has Facebook not changed their emoji set?

Facebook's graphics are in the moment, Mario is timeless (also the basic block hasn't been changed, grass and metal have)

I leveled the color a bit.
That is so bright, the colours I presented were as intended each and every one.
Edit: even the green blocks that are only slightly different - human eyes like green but suck at telling them apart, mathematically they are different and in context they will appear different.

Here is my redesign of the metal blocks.
They look more EECMish, to be honest.
EDIT: Now with borders

Very smooth, they look like tiles rather than blocks - but the principal is good.
As I'm reading this you made
Which looks better

I agree, EE has to get rid of its stolen textures. Also the black block got a revamp so why cant basic blocks?

I like your basic blocks better but 21 seems overkill. I'd prefer a color picker option just for that block.
@HG It doesn't look like metal to me. Try a different metal texture. The border is not visible enough and there are some minor details in it that make it appear worse when repeated (e.g. there's a white dot on the grey and a white streak on the top right of red).

No. It would break the in-game art of sooooo many levels.

But minimap color will stay... Ö

You didn't read the OP.
Current colours would be matched but also true colours are included - art would not be broken at all.

but if real yellow blocks are added why will anyone buy a gold membership???
I think gold could be made different enough to be noticable.

$5/month yellow DLC
*allows you to use yellow in your worlds
*other players who do not have this DLC will be yellow-colorblind and only see grey

I seriously think this wouldn't be a good idea, It would ruin the hardness of pixel art, It would be as bad as allowing importing midis or using a midi controller for the music blocks.
Hey look a bunch of stats about me

honestly guys about the mario thing
MARIO HAS CHANGED PRETTY MUCH ALL OF ITS TEXTURES in the latest versions like the U edition and junk it doesn't look like that, not many modern Mario games resemble Benjamin's Mario copy thingy and EE hasn't been sued yet. Why do you guys want to destroy the (pretty much) only remains of EE's older versions?
