sadly that's entirely true. there's no good way to make a system to determine someone's reliability, as everything can be flawed or exploited.. Numbers even more readily so.

edit: I say sadly because that'd be a fun metric to actually have be reliable

I don't think reputation should be implemented.
The reason why woots have worked so well, is because people are unable to leave negative reputation & comments and turn the situation into a war.
Just like people make **** quality posts to bump their post count, they effectively rep themselves as well.

That, and it's another additional thing to moderate.

I think reputation is fun. Nobody should really take it that seriously. Sure, don't just go -repping people for nothing, but in general it's just a cute way to tell people you appreciate (or dislike) their post.

If people have ?? rep, you can just click the reputation link and still see their score.
ex: ernesdo is -1

That's by design. It's for people who want to avoid being judged right off the bat by their rep but still want to send and receive feedback. Basically people who are butthurt but not that butthurt.
