Welcome to Chest Quest, a turn-based RPG with a world map, six different classes, a ton of items, and of course, chests.
This is a new forum game that I hope will work well with the community. It is very new, hence the [BETA] in the title. In this game, you control a character in a grid-based environment. Your goal is to cooperate with 3 other players and defeat all sorts of grotesque monsters.
What a battle will look like
Again, this project is VERY NEW. Expect inconsistencies and exploits. Think of yourself as a tester.
I need four players in order to start the game. There will be a master PM thread for the four players to discuss their strategies, however, each player must create an additional topic to put in their controls. Before signing up, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Thank you.

-Great, you are now excited for the game (I hope). Before everything else, scroll down a bit and you should see a ton of spoilers. Find one that says "CHARACTER INSTRUCTIONS". You will be greeted with even more spoilers. Those are the six classes you will be able to play with. Read through, and choose one that you like the most.
-Nice. I hope you have chosen a class by now. If you did, follow the template underneath to sign up. If four people have already signed up, please refrain from making a fifth. Only four will be accepted, as there are only four players allowed in the game.

-If you have already signed up, here are some basic information about the game:
-You see those letters and numbers next to the grid? That's your movement tool. Kind of like chess.
-That is pretty much it, I think.
-You cannot stand on another player's place
-You cannot stand on an enemy's place
-There will be a PM thread for discussions. You must PM me another thread for the commands
-The main commands are:
MOVE
ATTACK
USE SPECIAL
Other commands that aren't as used frequently are:
USE [ITEM] (ON PLAYER, if it's a heart-up or mega-up)
UPGRADE [ITEM]
-Players may kick an abuser out if everyone but the abuser agrees. There also must be an explanation on why the abuser should be kicked out. If such event occurs, the abuser will be replaced by another player, usually a back-up
-You may only submit one main command at once. You cannot MOVE and ATTACK at the same time, but you can MOVE and USE ITEM, as USE ITEM is not a main command
-You cannot upgrade an item during a battle! They must be done before or after one.
-Cooperate with people! This game is built upon cooperation. It will be very difficult to play if everyone in the team does not talk to one another.
-The movement/attack ranges will not be provided for you. I tried to implement it in the map, but it ended up looking like barf. You must know your class' ranges by yourself.

Can there be multiple classes? Can there, let's say, be four knights all at once?
Sure. But I'll recommend making all the players choose different classes. It's much more fun that way.
This looks way too complex. I don't think it's worth playing at all. Is this game really that hard?
No. The hardest thing in the game is reading all of that ^. There's, what, four unique moves in this game? It's really not that hard.
Will this take long?
It all depends on the people playing. The game ends when all the players die. Oh, I forgot to mention, if you lose all your health, it's game over for you. You're kicked out of the game.
How come we can't see the movement/attack ranges of the monsters?
It's messy, and I am lazy.
There will be a command thing, you know, like that thing. There's a little box and it lists all the commands that have been inputted in the round, including the monster attacks and everything. Catch my drift?
Also, as this is in BETA, the next version will (hopefully) have more support for more people (5 PLAYERS? 6? 8???), maybe a redesigned profile, larger battle area...also more items. And classes.
bonus thing: the characters were supposed to be ee smileys and the enemies were supposed to be blocks and the bosses mutated octopus smileys, but then i realized how hellish it wouldve been for movement. then i tried making a tiny grid system and then expanding it super large for it to fit the smileys, but then i realized i had to either copy the smileys from the ee files or draw them myself...so i gave up and made everything pixelized hope you like it

IMPORTANT UPDATE TO KNIGHT CLASS:
shields no longer doubles defense! Instead, they add a certain amount of defense during a use. the reason why it is not doubled is because there are 8 shields you can get; if they all had double defense, the only thing other than that are effect buffs and added stats.

ok new update/thing on the game
it's going pretty well, i will definitely make a new round when all of the current players expire
so far ive noticed that:
this game is TOO cooperative for forumers; no one really talks about a strategy but instead just does their own thing
rules might be too scattered/hard to find, the players are having a tough time playing that way
items and classes need more detail. enemies need provided attack/movement ranges
these things are being worked on for the next chest quest game:

more player support
more detailed enemies/classes
more items and consumables
