Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: Update Discussion for forums

Should probably have made a post about this.

Forums have been upgraded to the latest version of FluxBB. That's what the majority of time spent uprgading was doing. Since the forums are so heavily modified I had to apply the patches instead of just replacing all the forum files, and this is my first time patching anything. While I was at it I also upgraded all the software on the server.

This is more of a security update than a feature update. Security is important too, we don't want random scrubs being able to take control of the forums.

Re: Update Discussion for forums

There's now an option to hide the total from being displayed on every post while still being able to send and receive rep instead of it being hidden globally. Also a small display bug in the profile is fixed.

when you put an apostrophe in the dumb rep reasons it's preceded by a backslash after it's submitted

That's what happens when you choose not to display your rep total on every post. It's still totally visible for anyone who goes on your rep page and adds it up, but a lot of people got butthurt about rep on the old forums because of it. Like how if you have 2000 posts, people see you as more trustworthy than someone with 40 posts. Post count doesn't actually mean much but people still read into it and so people still get butthurt over it.

But if they see someone with 5000 posts and 5 rep then they would be less trustworthy than someone who has 100 posts and 5 rep - reps need to be diluted to represent posts before rep.

Judging trustworthiness based on numbers is bad, do we really want to be adding features that would accommodate and encourage the people who do that?
