Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Option to only unmark topic as having "new posts" after logging out

When I go idle for a bit, all the "new posts" disappear. Would it be possible to have it so that there is an option to have them never disappear until read?

Possible and has enough attention to be added.

I'm here to lead the opposition!

I love how the old posts are considered read. Going around clicking everything read would be tedious. Bleh.

Then I know what's new since the last time I was here, as opposed to letting pages upon pages of unrelated posts pile up.

This option would be convenient for those who have to go idle or away in the middle of reading new posts. Considering that there is a "mark all posts as read" button, a user could easily unmark them all if they wanted (which is what I did after leaving for several months). This is optional, so this could only be an inconvenience to anybody who chooses to turn it on.

Re-asking this since this appears to have been forgotten about, and there is still no conclusive answer to this.
