I am pretty sure the "friendzone" exists, at least as a definition, since it seems like a potential scenario that could possibly occur from what I understand. What makes you say that?

Do you have any evidence for this? From the definition Ive gathered about the "friendzone", it seems like its a possible scenario.

The "friendzone" is the name given when two people are friends, but only one wants a romantic or sexual relationship with the other.

Example: Person A and Person B have been friends for two years. Person A has had a crush on Person B for two and a half years, but Person B is uninterested in a romantic relationship, and sees Person A as a friend.
Person A labels themselves as being "stuck in the Friendzone" because their romantic or sexual advances have gotten no where.

It's a term used by people who think that they are entitled to a relationship, and see friendship as a punishment more than as the alliance it should be.

From the definition you gave, it seems like the friendzone in concept "exists". I just found it strange that four people seemed to think the sheer concept was impossible.

It doesn't exist. It's the name people that think they're entitled to sex or romance give to a friendship with someone they're in love with.

The "friendzone" only exists if you have that mentality. Otherwise, it's friendship.
