Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Will EE going to Unity prevent this? I hope to dear god that it will.
No, it won't prevent this, since EE uses the PlayerIO service, which the game's servers are and any supported programming language via the PlayerIO interface will be affected by this change too.

An abstraction:
There is a house.
By making the unity update we change the door. We change the door so other can enter too.
The problem is that the house owner will change and the new owner wants to raise the rent. And we believe EE can't support the new rent.
If we don't pay the rent the door will be locked. So changing the door is useless if we don't pay the rent...
A possible solution is us to go find a new propriety with lower rent prince. But we must carry our furniture with us too.

I'm going to talk to Brian and see if we can arrange something. Once there's any actual news to report I will do so.
Either way we'll look into a solution to keep everything going.

How about this.
There is a house.
A lot of people like to go to the house. It's a super big house. Many people visit the house everyday.
The house is rented from a landlord, who charges the tenant a certain amount per month. Right now, he gives the house to us for basically nothing. The people who visit the house can choose to buy things from the tenant (gems, BC, beta...) so that the tenant can pay their own bills.
The landlord sold the house to another landlord, and they want the tenant to pay more money for the house. A lot more money. The new landlord says that if you cannot pay the rent, you will be evicted in 30 days.
The tenant is now talking to the landlord to see if there's a different payment option so that they don't get evicted, and therefore people can still visit the house. However, the landlord is on vacation right now, so we'll have to wait for them to come back.
If the landlord says that there are no other payment options, we'll have to move out of the house. There's a lot of people who already know where the house is, but the new house will be at a different street address. There are a lot of people who will have to be "updated" to know the new street address, otherwise they'll keep going to the abandoned house. The landlord will take the furniture too, so we'll have to buy some new furniture for people to use. During this time the house will be very empty and people might not want to stay for very long because the floor is not very comfortable. Only the tenant can buy new furniture.

i was referring to hostage's reply, but your analogy is much more clearer, so thanks for that

Tbh that seems to me like more of a CYA thing with all those crazy child protection laws out there.
