I have the same problem. As much as I am tempted to daydream and think, I try to limit my thoughts and think about nothing. If a thought comes to your mind, throw it away. Unless you are incredibly afraid, that itself should not be too hard.

Ok this is what I do.
Write down everything you're thinking on a post-it note such as:
-finishing spanish homework
-remember to bring my phone charger tomorrow
-go to the principal for coffee
Then try to not think about it as much and go to sleep.

Exercise before you go to bed. The more you do, the better. Being tired can help you sleep, but being exhausted is even better. Also, you will need to clear your mind, and I think CatoniC's advice seems good for this, although I've never tried it. Oh and ghosts aren't real. Create a mental map of where everything is in your room, that might help with your fear of darkness.

As a trained sleep expert-
Turn off all ur electronic **** like a half hour before you want to sleep. Dont look at it if you can't sleep, because the kind of light it emits makes your brain think its daytime.
Download SimplyNoise from the app store. Use the brown noise setting. (Warning: it kind of reaches a point of diminishing returns after a while, it gave me a headache after a month)
Read something boring, like a textbook.
Exercise, but not right before bed like skullz said. Do it like in the afternoon.
Dont eat a big meal right before you go to sleep
Buy melatonin gummies and take them.
Im sure this is extra helpful since its not late or anything

I have a bunch of tips:
- Do something.
Lying in bed while having insomnia is a terrible feeling since you see the clock ticking and you are still awake.
So get up and do something. Preferably something boring. Read a book, watch some nature documentary or whatever makes you bored.
Your brain will begin shutting off and you can sleep.
- Bedtime rituals.
We all have those weird things we must do before we go to bed, and keeping that tradition might make your brain aware its time to sleep.
Things like yoga, a bath, reading etc. are perfect for this.
Though there are some things you should not do/use.
1. Alchohol - Might make you fall asleep, but no need to wake up with a minor hangover the next morning. (this applies even more if you arent an adult)
2. Excersizing - They might make you more tired, but going to bed sweaty, hot will result with around 30 minutes of lost sleep time.
3. Horror movies - Unless horrors dont exactly affect you much, being afraid that you will die in your sleep wont help much.
- Make an enviroment.
Most people like a nice cool quiet dark room to sleep in.
Get an air conditioner or open a window.
Get curtains or blinds.
And get some earplugs.
