Former Third Reich Submarine Bunker Valentin - now a war memorial

Hi,

Long ago I promised to take a few pics of the mentioned submarine bunker Valentin, a gigantic piece of concrete and steel, now left as reminder of war.
The entire structure was built up by forced labour under the Nazi Party during World War 2.
Not much to say but hoping that these times will not ever come back. Neither here nor anywhere else.

A good friend of mine and me were visting the location by bike and got a few pics to share.

That thing is freaking huge - and standing next to it you realise the mad mind behind the Third Reich... it scares me

Some facts:

    Length: 419 m
    Width (East): 67 m
    Width (West): 97 m
    Outter height: 20–22 m
    Inside height: 18 m
    Base area : 35.375 m²
    Used concrte: 500.000 m³
    Thickness of concrete roof (first stage): 4,5 m
    Thickness of concrete roof (second stage): 7 m !
    Thickness of concrete (walls): 4,5 m

Well, I could not as I was walking with my road bike. But maybe another day - the bunker is open for visits of course.

Yes, thats the smaller side of the bunker. The side is like 5 times as long.
