Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

There have been similar suggestions, even by me, but let me give it another try...

One level listed above all other levels, even if nobody is in it.
The level changes daily, picked either by community members of the staff.
It is being featured because: a) it's new, and b) its quality is above average.
For example, RavaTroll's "The Siege of Volkar" could have gotten the spotlight on 13 Feb.
(While I'm writing this there's not a single person in that level, so it's not even listed. On top are x minigames, x to code, x wip, and so on.)

If a lot of players are in a level, that doesn't mean it's new or of good quality. ("Online" tab)
If a lot of players played it, that doesn't mean it's new or of good quality either. ("Plays" tab)
The more players played a level, even if the level isn't very good, the more likes the level will have. Example: if 4 players played level A and 50% liked it, that's 2 likes; if 40 players played level B and 10% liked it, that's 4 likes. New levels, no matter their quality, will show up at the bottom there. ("Likes" tab)
The "Featured" tab frequently lists only 1 or 2, sometimes even 0, levels. If nobody plays these levels, they disappear from the overview. And the levels that are listed are either campaign levels or older levels.

When it comes to the programming, the actual code necessary to add such a daily spotlight, it's not much work.
I mean, really, it's barely any work at all. The code to list is already there, so all you need is one field for the daily level's ...com/games/"..." code, plus a "today's spotlight" (or whatever) rectangle with its own background color. You know, similar to those "campaign", "mine", et cetera.

Then what about the effort to pick those daily levels. That too is hardly any work. First of all, this forum's Rooms board already lists a lot of the new levels, and the quality of these levels is mostly above average. And the staff wouldn't even need to do this, if they ask for volunteers from this community, people would be lining up coast to coast. Even one person could do this and it still wouldn't be a lot of work.

The game itself could even tell players who joined the featured level where they can submit their new levels if they want to get a chance to have it featured. Sure, some level authors will be disappointed, but constructive criticism from the community might be useful too.

And when this is added to the game, just put in that extra hour of effort to add a very basic counter for each player that tracks how many daily levels they finished.
Again, almost no work. Just a simple integer field in the database, and +1 when the player gets the trophy.
Still almost no work, list that value somewhere so players know it's being tracked and they can increase it by playing these daily levels.

This would also get you more on-line players. It's nice that players return daily to collect and spend energy, but that takes almost no time and has become less relevant.

I have permanently left the game and forum.
EE is an entertaining game and I enjoyed playing it...
...but it's time for me to move on.

Maybe if you finish 200 of the (365 or so total) daily levels in a year you get that year's badge.

So you're saying that The Most Majestic Hookjump is not a good quality world?

Being completely serious, play count always means a good level, look at those 200 replica minis, every single one is unique and amazing.

Right now there are 17 people (not including myself) in the world, which puts it at #2; because it is a good level and so has lots of plays.
