Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Firewatch by Campo Santo was released today. I've pretty excited, and bought the game a few hours ago.

I'll post some opinions/reviews as I begin playing. Anyone else who is playing should do the same

Day one Linux support? Count me in. Anyone who supports Linux from day one has my support.
Not only does it support Linux, it looks pretty neat too.

RUNS ON GANOO / LOONIGS DAY ONE?
GOAT. 100% GOAT.
Honestly though, this doesn't really seem like the type of game that interests me. I'm tempted to buy it because day one lanugs suprot, but I don't think it's worth $20 if I'm not even going to be into it.
The graphics are sweet though tbh fam.
I hate tall signatures.

I'm very impressed with the art work.
The intro story is kind of sad, and almost made me tear up
They have a serious issue with frame rate. If they can fix the frame rate issues so I can stop freezing that would be awesome. I have to close the game, and reopen it every time it occurs.

So, the game seems to be running slightly better today, though nothing has changed.
I'm amazed with the graphics. They are so good.
I wish the game was more free-world, or at least barriers were a little more natural in places.
I think the game would be better if there were more animals: deer, fox, rabbit, etc.
I'm enjoying the story. There's a minor side plot that I guess is going on.

ok mr
Well it sounds like they worked out the one or two bugs that linux had so I'm going to go ahead and buy this. It's on sale for 10% off which is like so totally awesome like wow.
But seriously this game looks neat and I think my sister would enjoy it a lot. She likes to watch people game for the story but she's not much into gaming herself. Something that's basically no skill, pure story like this looks like it is would probably be right up her alley.

You mean a movie?
An interactive movie with a script where you're the main character and you help influence the script as you go, yeah. Like I said, she enjoys stories more than puzzles and gameplay. She's crazy antisocial and spends most of her time in books. Anyway, from what I've seen so far it's a really interesting story being told.
I'm enjoying it, anyway. Only seen one slight graphical bug, where the shading on a distant fire at night would change slightly if you were positioned in just the right spot. Nothing major at all, so I'm glad to see that. Linux may have 25% of the whole steam catalog but that doesn't save us from bad ports.
Just finished the game. Was pretty neat.

Ouch. Did it work? If not you should report it to the devs because I'm like 2% sure that isn't intended.

It did. I had the settings on the lowest possible the day before, and it kept crashing. But it worked last night. I played about 30 minutes without any interruptions.

I have bought the game but haven't had time to play it, thank you JaWapa for notifying us of the release - remember looking forward to this, then like everything I forgot.
Thank you eleizibeth ^
I stack my signatures rather than delete them so I don't lose them

Amazing graphics and the story is great too, I wish we could see D. and as JaWapa said, more animals etc wouldn't hurt.

Crashing issue is back.
There are already a lot of comments on it.
EDIT: it crashes when it tries to load a bunch of trees, the sky, or a particular rock wall.
The graphics are already on the lowest setting.

What are you trying to run this on?

No graphics beyond integrated? Might just be that your integrated graphics aren't up to the task then. They might be running out of memory, maybe try giving your integrated graphics more RAM to play with.

I finished Firewatch yesterday, the voice acting is perfect, and the scenery and atmosphere - but the sound design was a bit lazy, and the lack of animals, and as someone said earlier, the actual exploration mechanics are really annoying, there are no sensible consistent visual references for where you can and can't go, so you often end up just walking into random bushes and rocks - because sometimes you can walk over them and sometimes you can't :/ and the map was often quite annoying to use.
I got stuck in rocks a couple of times as well and had to go back a save point, but despite all it's clunkiness, something about the story and the way it unfolds really stays with you afterwards, it's far too short though...that ending -_- ..... I tried to refuse it it but the credits rolled anyway.
