Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Got into this debate with a few of my bros, it's more or less split even between us
I actually can't decide, sport entails competition, but snowboarding is more of an art imo with tricks and stunts etc.
However it is in the Olympics, which is super high level competition, as well as the X Games.
I'd like to think it's a sport if you want it to be

Charlie: Well, if you were directly above him, how could you see him?
Maverick: Because I was inverted.

Yes, why not?
It has essentially all properties to qualify as a sport. Something can be a sport and art at the same time.

Yes, why not?
I thought that at first too, until you look at sports such as Football, Basketball etc. and just the overall attitudes involved in the industry
Snowboarding is very laid back, its all about the freedom on the powder, just having a good time. It's where it originated from. As opposed to basketball or football, where it's all about winning, they define the core concept of a sport.
I don't consider skateboarding a sport, nor do I consider surfing a sport. Neither of those are Olympic events, but they're basically snowboarding on different terrain.

Yes of course it is. I'm trying to think of reasons where it couldn't be a sport. Snowboarding can be competitive but still is an art like what you guys said. Having said that, it kinda is about winning if you're talking professionally.

It's a sport, but it's not really a competitive game like basketball and football.

Yea I get what your saying. Speaking of snow sports though, would you consider skiing a competitive sport? imo yes

Would you consider some other Olympic sports, such as gymnastics, diving, or equestrian, as "real sports"?
The things that they have in common (as well as snowboarding) are
- physically challenging (unlike a "sport" like chess, which is purely mental)
- require skill and training (just like soccer, it takes several years to become professional at them)
- are competitive (the points scored are not from strictly defined acts, like a goal in soccer. however, the points in these sports are given by judges who follow strict criteria)
They are all sports. Different to say, baseball or soccer, in the sense that there is not a clock with a running score, but sports nonetheless.
