Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Should we really be immortal?

No, I don't think on dying yet.
On the latest news I heard about a monkey that had a head transplant.
So I came with the question "Should we really be immortal?"
Biologically speaking we know that brain cells don't regenerate or multiply during our life. Basically the brain will become unconscious at some point.

In my opinion without nature lifecycle we will evolve slower since younger people(with new ideas) will not have the possibility to remake themselves.
Its natural at some point to get conservative about something, something that we can clearly observe on elders.

Re: Should we really be immortal?

While it may be due to my religious beliefs, no. Without death, what is the point of life itself? Time limits give us reason to actually do stuff. If people were immortal right now I would procrastinate even more than I already do https://wiki.everybodyedits.com/images/c/c0/069_LOL

I don't think so. One of the thought processes of depressed (or sometimes just lazy and angsty) people is "if everyone else in this world including me is gonna die one day anyway, what's the point of doing x thing/living?"

Re: Should we really be immortal?

I think that'd be a bad idea. Think about how many people would be retired; a huge, growing non-working population that needs money to survive. Not considering retirement, there would be so many people on earth that there would be barely no space for anyone come a few thousand years.

I think that if we get the ability to colonize other planets/moons/etc. first its ok. Otherwise there are obvious issues...

Re: Should we really be immortal?

No obviously not

Dying is a necessity for us to coexist with other species, which in turn is a necessity for all organisms on this planet to survive as a whole

Maverick: Started up on a 6, when he pulled from the clouds, and then I moved in above him.
Charlie: Well, if you were directly above him, how could you see him?
Maverick: Because I was inverted.

Re: Should we really be immortal?

Immortality would prevent us from evolving and decreases diversity in species, so no we shouldn't be immortal.

Re: Should we really be immortal?

Immortality would not only be a bad idea, but it would suck, too. Eventually, after the universe and everything in it ends and atoms are so far spread apart they will never interact again, you will be drifting through space until the end of time, alone.

Re: Should we really be immortal?

insanity why is it necessary for us to die to coexist with other species?

luka504 what if people stop having children?
even if people dont stop having children, there might be a number of people who choose to commit suicide.

also not that i know whether this is true, but i have heard the belief that we are not presently able to evolve because rather than the traits of the population gradually changing to favor certain things we can just create things to solve problems within a single lifespan or whatever

if it is true that we are not presently evolving then people not evolving after becoming immortal wouldnt be an issue.

hexagon what if automated systems are made to replace workforces like with robots
of course the robots would need to be designed but with I would think it is likely a large number of people would want to keep working anyway
or maybe there are people who enjoy creating robots and would do it regardless of the circumstances

about the retirement thing, assuming people will always be able to work, many of the elderly who have to retire still want to work and do things like volunteer

though idk how ppl would feel after hundreds of years or something like that

idk
