Everybody Edits allows players to construct and play worlds. Recently, players have been calling Everybody Edits a game almost everywhere, so the question then comes to be: is Everybody Edits a game or a tool to make games (worlds)?
I believe Everybody Edits is a tool to make games. That could be subjective since some might treat functions, like the Shop, as a game.
Or a bot test ground.

Its a game.
A tool for building stuff. Art, challenges, bots, you name it. EE is a user-friendly builder that lets players use their imagination. There is no purpose other than to let your imagination run loose and have fun.
If nobody built worlds, nobody could play EE.
It isn't like Terraria or Minecraft, where there is a purpose, rules, etc. EE is just like, "Build stuff."

Ok but drawing parallels between this and architecture...is a stretch. Architecture and construction are both marketable skills. Being good at EE Is not. Would you put "I can do art in Everybody Edits" on an application or resume? Nah, unless you're really desperate for hobbies/skills, and if it came to that you may want to make something up. Studying architecture, however, is marketable and applicable (unlike EE) outside of a narrow field.
Let me rephrase my former comment. EE is a game. You play it. It doesn't let you build anything tangible. It's creations aren't marketable. It's a game, or a hobby at best, unless you're so willing to argue semantics that you find teeny reasons why it could be considered a tool, but in that case who is REALLY being a tool? ;p

I admit that was a bad example.
Ok, here. Think of EE as an online hobby, like DeviantArt. It isn't a game... We build things based on no objective. A game is something like LoL, Halo, WoW, GTA, etc. You have a goal, and a job to do given by the developer. The worst thing EE got was Potions, since you took them into worlds. That made EE feel like it was a collectible game or something.
It's a canvas. It's a virtual PhotoShop. It is NOT a game.
