Gem Contest and SURVEY

contest over, you can go back and play through, but you won't get the sweet $$$

The survey was here.

The prize was 50 gems for the winner. The goal start time was Monday 8:00 PM (CST), but the servers were down, so I pushed it off a day.

Filled the form, but not sure what do you mean with some of these questions

So, how I can participate? What should I do to get that gems? I did not understand at all. Does it the best awnser to win?

You ask for a forum name and then if forums are being used.

Edit: also, you can ignore my last 2 responses, I thought there was going to be an opt-out of the contest question, not just not participating.

Very true. Honestly I was picking them at random. However some do have uses.
Age is probably one that seems unrelated. One example application is whether or not the forums really need to be "kid-proof" if there are no kids.
What timezone people are would help organize things like this, to decide when gem hunts should start. Continents... that question sorta gets trumped by the timezone. Still, it's more useful than some of the other questions.
Gender - this one doesn't have such a pragmatic application. Just curiosity. Ultimately, questions that could be found uncomfortable are either not required or have a 'rather not say' option.

Indeed. Two things compelled me.
1. I already allocated gem prizes for a previous setup I had wanted to work with: I would code a server to give each user an individual task to complete. Most gem hunts can easily be circumvented by asking someone "hey, what step are you on?" and then getting the answer " oh, the code to blah.tubmlr.com is "potato"" . Long story short, people cheat easy. However, I didn't finish my servering because time and a lack of imagination. All the same, I wanted to do a contest.
2. I'm curious about EE demographics. Where are we concentrated? Uhm... I could've developed more on this, but it seems I was already pushing buttons.

Finally, I figured the gem contest would possibly increase the survey turnout. Who knows.

Alright. Ultimately whether or not someone enters doesn't affect either process, but I appreciate the explanation.

From what I understood every competitor will have a different task to accomplish which I find extremely fair.

It does sound like something with potential and is indeed organized. But that's my expectation.

If I actually gave each person a different task, that's a ton of time. And, there's the chance that someone gets a terribly easy task to complete. that's no fun either.

Wouldnt people just be able to enter twice if they made an alt? Or did you disable doing the survey twice?
Also why did you put antarctica in the continents -_-

The Prize isn't given out based on survey completion. Just a gem hunt. Ultimately one prize, answering the survey 10 times doesn't help.
