Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

"miscellaneous" music block

for instruments that just don't fit into a certain group

i.e: the clap, rattle and doink sound in the drum block

10 years and still awkward. Keep it up, baby!

kanyEE

The drum block is an untuned percussion block including rattle, clap, doink, etc.
Piano is tuned percussion
It all fits in

Hey yeah you're right. The package should be renamed to "percussion" instead of "drum" cause of its contents. Plus, percussion sounds cooler //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

but piano is a percussion instrument as well.

Can you please not be so anal about it?
Technically the piano is a fusion of a percussion and a string instrument, making it an instrument on its own. Commercially, when people say percussion, they refer to drums, shakers and whatnot.

Drums, maracas, claps, etc. are untuned percussion, but pianos, keyboards, celestes, harpsichords, etc. are tuned percussion
They're all percussion because they involved hitting something: you bang on a drum, you press the keys which makes the hammer hit the strings.
Pianos are string instruments as well since well they have strings, but since they're hammered that makes them percussion too.

Anyways, yeah, there isn't really a need for a misc block, but if they're renamed to tuned and untuned percussion then that's still correct.

Re: "miscellaneous" music block

Commercially I think "drums" are fine, but "percussion" would be finer and more precise.

Re: "miscellaneous" music block

wow how'd we get from a miscellaneous pack idea to an argument about whether or not percussion is for drums and piano or not.

Re: "miscellaneous" music block

judging from the names of "drum" and "piano"  i think the sounds were supposed to be related by actually being part of the same instrument, and claps/rattles/doinksounds aren't related to drums
