Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

So... if you guys saw the movie, how did you like it? I didn't like it it's plagiarized from episode 4.
SPOILER: What's your reaction on the black guy turning out not being the jedi?

I hated how they killed off Han Solo without hesitation. Seriously, he got stabbed in the heart with a lightsaber and then immediately thrown off of a bridge. Then the planet collapsed on itself.

Harrison Ford probably said he'd be in the film only if they'd kill off his character.
In the last Indiana Jones he also more or less passed on the torch to Shia LaBeouf.
He's 70+ and he's retiring.
As for how they killed Solo, maybe the unexpected death makes it exciting, and in real-life stuff like that can also happen during wars.
I have permanently left the game and forum.
EE is an entertaining game and I enjoyed playing it...
...but it's time for me to move on.

I feel like they should have killed off chewy rather than solo, after all, its chewy's actor that has health problems... thats why they had him get shot in like, the beginning of the movie.
Despite what people say, Different55 is the best mod.

The movie was great. I kinda thought Luke was Snoke until the end =P
Pretend I didn't exist until now
All hail me, the king of insensitive jerks

I enjoyed it. The plot was a bit similiar to A New Hope, but it still kept me exited, and the visuals were great.

It's basically a copy of A New Hope (Episode IV). I expected a little more substance.
I actually had never seen all the Star Wars movies, only bits and pieces, so I did a marathon at a nearby theater. Yes, all seven episodes. It took 18 hours. And what I noticed is that...
1. The story of Anakin Skywalker is incredible, and anyone who says the prequels are just flashy CGI is clearly a Sith Lord wannabe.
However, I will concede that Attack of the Clones (Episode II) was a bit slow.
2. The original trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) has a less interesting plot. I mean, there's not much to remember. It was the first film of its type and they were harshly restricted by their lack of astronomical knowledge. I do like Luke in Episode VI and Lando's character in general. Maybe I was just distracted by the awful special effects. The soundtrack was killer though.
3. Episode VII does a great job of showing you how history repeats itself or whatever. Death Star No. 3, good guy turns to the dark side, surprising family ties, underdog protagonist who inexplicably has the force, etc etc. What I wanted was boldness. That's what Star Wars is to me. The setting is bold, the music is bold; heck, even the intro screen is bold. Have you heard the Imperial March?

The plot twists, themes, characters, decisions; they're all bold and stand out in my memory. There's nothing that really stands out to me in The Force Awakens other than Finn becoming sentient or whatever. Literally every other aspect was either a copy of IV or uninteresting.
In the series' defense, it has been about 40 years since episode IV. I can understand the need to rehash old memories, but you don't need to copy the entire movie for Pete's sake. I just hope the next one is interesting and we have some actually round characters like Anakin. I'd thoroughly enjoy seeing Rey going to the Dark Side or the Light Side being revealed as corrupt or something like that.
Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

@tako, I think not having the nostalgia effect was probably to blame for you not finding the plot that interesting. For me, this was one of the first (series of) movies that me and my dad watched together, and his generation grew up with it. So I thought the callbacks and references to the old series, and yes even the formulaic approach, was done nicely. That being said, I haven't watched the old ones in years and years, so to be honest I'm a little foggy on the details. (Usually, I'd admit that nostalgia is unreliable. But its obvious that it can completely change an experience such as seeing a movie).
The characters were great. I loved Rey. She was the female protagonist that all the movies I watched growing up never had. Finn was fun too, their chemistry was on point.
Also the droid was adorable.
EDIT: One thing: The Kylo Ren dude. What were the casting people thinking? When he took off his mask me and my sister both said "ohh........". He was so greasy looking, and not at all intimidating.

my favorite scene was when a stormtrooper shouts at finn and says "traitor" and he drops his gun and shield and takes out a spinning weapon

I forgot a few of the minor details. Anyways though they still never said how R2 came back on. It just sorta happened.

I thought the movie was awesome. Seeing it really got me into star wars again, and lately I've been rewatching all the previous episodes. I gotta say, after seeing episode IV again, you really notice the similarities. There was definitely some huge inspiration from it, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it was a complete copy.
Imo, this is for sure one of the better episodes of the series, but nothing beats episode III

kylo ren looked like a greasy nerd
EDIT:
Yes, Episode III was by far the best
Maverick: Started up on a 6, when he pulled from the clouds, and then I moved in above him.
Charlie: Well, if you were directly above him, how could you see him?
Maverick: Because I was inverted.

In a way, I think Han Solo's death was kinda predictable in the moment. That long dramatic pause, made you assume something was gonna happen. Kylo Ren looked like an egg, not even intimidating. I'd roll him in a fight.

yeah when he was giving his saber to solo at one moment he rapidly tried to pull it which shows he didnt want to give it away

I imagine they purposely made him appear weak in this movie, so that later on they can show that the completion of his training really paid off.
If you remember towards the end of the movie, Snoke told him to come to him or something to complete his training. I feel like he'll be much more intimidating in episodes VIII and IX.
