Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Which one do you care about more in songs, music or lyrics? (Not including instrumental music of course, just actual songs with lyrics)
I've always payed more attention to the music, but sometimes I start liking a song I didn't like a first after listening to the lyrics more!

Begining 15-30 secs with only music
Verse 1 for 20-40 secs
Chorus for 10-20 secs
Only music for 30-50 secs

Lyrics, I can very rarely listen to songs without lyrics, I even look up acapella versions of songs I like and they sound just as good to me without music.

I find that I kind of care more about the music? Because, for example, I've listened to this song (a few F-bombs) so... so many times in the past two weeks. The lyrics are like... what.
like, after a while, the lyrics just blur into the music and it just becomes noise so it doesn't really matter, even if you've never heard the song before, until you suddenly stop, like, zoning out sound-wise and then you're like, "wait, w-what? WHAT?"
but yeah idk, the lyrics can make or break a song. not always, but sometimes. if both are bad, the song's bad. if both are good, the song's great.

I listen to a lot of non-lyrical music, but also a fair amount of songs which the lyrics make the song; I think they are both important, but aren't lyrics without music counted as poetry - but you can have poetry with music in the background; both are important but both can be omitted as long as they aren't both at the same time
Thank you eleizibeth ^

It depends. I can't listen to rap w/o hearing the lyrics. If the lyrics to a song are trash, I hate it.
instrumental in the background usually defines the song especially in rap
Maverick: Started up on a 6, when he pulled from the clouds, and then I moved in above him.
Charlie: Well, if you were directly above him, how could you see him?
Maverick: Because I was inverted.

I feel like I never have an answer to the production vs vocal/lyric debate because I value each so highly
The voice is an instrument in itself and there's so much variety to it, and there are so many different voices to hear. People have different accents, different styles, whether it's one voice or many, an isolated voice or accompanied by the production.
As for lyrics themself, there are also so many different ways they can be strung together. Different languages, different styles, etc. etc.
If the lyrics are bad, I probably won't like the song. If the production is bad, I probably won't like the song. To each their own.
I think vocals/lyrics should be viewed more as an instrument than something separate to music itself, as there are so many different ways to experiment them and couple them with other instruments.
!!!Music!!!
There are few lyrics that actually speaks to my heart. But music without lyrics its a bit boring.
My favourite songs are the Christmas ones.

nice job being a sheep and liking cookie cutter music
i generally just hear the song, then listen to it over and over to get more into the instrumentals and i look up the lyrics and analyze them and read other peoples thoughts then i **** love the song

I generally prefer songs that only have music.

Do non-lyrical vocals count as lyrics?

I barely understand what the singers sing so.
This is a false statement.

Like Anak said, vocals are an instrument in itself
I feel this can be especially true in certain situations:
Often times lyrics can be free associating streams of consciousness, not necessarily bringing a direct theme to the song, but along with the instrumentals, simply creating a certain feeling for the viewer. Words can be strung together simply because they sound good together with the music. It can create vague but poetic statements, and even leave you to interpret whatever the hell it means.
I've always payed more attention to the music, but sometimes I start liking a song I didn't like a first after listening to the lyrics more!
Oh yeah, they can certainly change the way that you look at a song when you intrepret - or, at least read an interpretation of the lyrics.
On one of my favourite albums, there's this midtempo country tinged tune I've liked, but not as much as everything else there. Sometime later I checked out genius.com and some dude made interpretations of half of the songs on the album. I liked the lyrics before, but after reading, my appreciation for the song grew immensely.. I realized just how well the lyricist strung all those words together, and how every little thing in the song worked together to form one great composition. Needless to say that song may be now my second favourite on the album.
Making sense of such disjointed lyrics is such a beautiful, and even fun thing.

I couldn't choose between removing vocals or lyrics from a song that has both.
If it's about "do you prefer pieces with or without lyrics?", I really couldn't say, it depends on the piece itself.
