Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Another ee rules proposal

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS WAS NOTHING OFFICIAL! JUST SOMETHING CREATED IN MY PERSONAL FREE TIME!! (Thanks Zoey2070 for the motivation)

I saw the current rules page and I said "damn, who would actually read this?" I tried to clean up the content and make some rules clearer.

This is the result so far:

Everybody Edits Rules:
In order to establish a welcoming environment for all of our players, there are rules and guidelines in place that everyone must follow.

The general community guidelines are as followes:
- Be nice to others and respect eachother.
- Do your best to keep a nice atmosphere in the game.
- Keep the chat safe for younger players.
- Do not spam or harass others.
- Report rule breakers using the /reportabuse command.

In addition to above, do not create/send content that
- is illegal.
- contains references to the use of drugs, sexual acts or violence.
- contains swearing at others or bypasses the word filter.
- incites harm against people or encourages others to do so.
- contains others' personal or confidential information.
- impersonates someone in a misleading or deceptive manner.
(the rules above apply to all content you submit to EE including chats, sign text and even blocks)

And also do not
- attempt to hack or interfere with the normal use of EE using external software ("bots").
- bypass bans by using more than one account.
- abuse the reporting system.

Reporting:
- DO report people who break the rules stated above.
- DO explain the situation as detailed as you can.
- DO NOT report things that are not against the rules.
- DO NOT report trolling as it is not against the rules.
- DO NOT report world owners for not giving you edit.

Breaking the rules:
Depending on the situation, breaking the rules can have consequences such as
- deletion of the offending world.
- a temporary ban.
- complete suspension of your account.

The Everybody Edits staff reserves the right to edit this rule list at any time.

Tell me what you think and feel free to suggest anything I might have forgotten to mention.

I'm in favor.
Other than you took 13 points, and around 25.

Of the 13, 3 are not rules, they are "the staff has the right to do..."

It's structured, most important up top; more readable than the current.

Except: the staff should not have the ability do delete a player's world, no matter what the problem.
no one has a play a world. a player can leave if they want.

Also

contains swearing at others or bypasses the word filter.

a player can turn on or off the filter if they chose to do so. therefor, wile bypassing the filter is bad, a player should, if they feel they need to, curse regularly so players with the filter are filtered.

How do you deal with inappropriate drawings of nudity and stuff like that? The best way I can think of is to clear the world.

Bots are going to be forbidden, according to these rules.
I'm sure there's a better way to rephrase it, since most bots aren't dangerous or ruin the player experience.

Do all bots interfere with other people's game play?  Do all bots disrupt the game play for other users? No.

Use common sense.

Deleting a room can mean many things: Clearing all blocks, using /killroom to kick the world out of lobby, removing the name or description, etc. We are rarely forced to remove a world entirely.

Swearing at other people is not okay, with or without the chat filter. Example: "**** my life" is okay, but  "**** you" isn't. The latter could get you banned.

Jonathan1003 wrote:

We are still going to tolerate "good" bots, but we reserve the right to ban them if they are harming us or our users.

If I were to say the rude version of `frick` with an invisible character in the middle, it won't be filtered and so everyone can see - that's what that point is about.

Re: Another ee rules proposal

"illegal" could be a little ambiguous. Illegal by whose standards? The user's country? The server's country/servers' countries? Neither; some international law that I'm unaware of?

Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

Something is illegal if it is against the law for us to host it.

99% of the time, it is copyright/patent/trademark infringement. There are also other things that may be illegal for us to host, take a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_o … ted_States for more info (our servers and user content is hosted in the US).

IANAL but I don't think the user's country matters.

EDIT: Also the Netherlands law as JaWapa mentions.

When it comes down to it isn't it your decision to decide what is illegal to be put on your game?
