For readability 7 section displays aren't particularly good.
With a 13 section display you see a number 4 as rather than

It does sadly mean that you can't have one display with 0# and the next with 1# and 2# etc..

Well, if you have spare switch gates and switch ID's, this fits like a glove.

Its a bit disingenuous to show this while using a bunch of 2-high segments for the sides of the 7-segment display. The larger the display is, the less the corners matter.
Nevertheless, as tamashiimizu says, this is very useful if you have the ids to spare.
