Why would you need to confess is it just to share your opinions? You could still post them on the off topic page of the forums.

Because when given the gift of anonymity people no longer censor themselves as they have no reputation to ruin. Though it might be a good idea to not let ppl call each other out by name to prevent too much flaming, as we can already see where this is going

The thing I dislike most about it is that seemingly people feel they can't say what they want. From this thread:

We expect you to be critical towards what we do, but remain respectful. We want you to say if you disagree with things; being critical is a good thing. However, the EE community is one that takes the game to heart and often finds it easy to release a burst of anger because there was a change they didn't agree with. Disagreeing is fine, we're wrong sometimes, and we want to know this, but if you don't provide constructive feedback and just insult us, it's not going to help.
• Treating the staff
We're players ourselves, treat us like any other players. We can take jokes, we can defend ourselves, we don't always want to have the code. Just be chill.

Where did it go wrong that you (whoever are angrily submitting things) felt like this was necessary?

Still, some of em do make me laugh, I don't really mind all this personally.

The EE confessions page has it's benefits, and downfalls.

I personally don't think it hurts once in a while to call someone out for being a self-centered idiot. There are so many people who genuinely care about making EE better, but then others who only want to make EE better for them. For example, I think a lot of the people who want more 'unique campaigns' are moreover just trying to get their own levels featured. Is it everyone? No, but it seems often seems to be the case that people care more about their own self worth over the worth of the game. But I can't say anything negative, lest I get banned, hence I rarely post at all.

So EE confessions seems like it should provide an outlet, but not really. Because even that is being moderated to an extent. Also, I don't care if people know it's me who is calling them out. Anonymity in name calling cowardice. If I dislike someone I'll say so. I'll limit my manner of speech to avoid getting banned, but otherwise I see no reason why we should have to hide how we really feel.

So, it seems nice in a way to think you can say what you want, but really what does it accomplish? There's always going to be limits on our speech for one reason or another. I personally think the forums have turned into a damn hugbox, but rather than consistently fight and get banned, I try to divert my energy into other less controlling situations (ie: Short stories). I think I'm better for that too, because I turn my negative energy into a creative outlet, which (I hope) might one day earn me a living.

You can say what you want here, you just need to have self control. Not being able to control your mouth is what gets you banned, not speaking out.

I'm finding humor in some of the "confessions". However, that last one may have crossed a line.

Confess sends your confession to the askbox, where it will be changed to a fun image. Submit a confession is if you made an image yourself or have one associated with your confession.

I am only censoring out asks that are spam or completely unrelated to Everybody Edits. The entire point of the site is that nothing is censored. Everything is put into the queue in the order it was received. There are currently 31 items in the queue, so if it seems like it is taking a while for your confession to be posted, that is why. There are 59 total posts so far.
