I've always seen shift be the eraser. Back in the old days, I tried putting something o shift and it didn't work.
How long ago could you do this?

I can't remember exactly but I could definitely place blocks (usually the transparent black block) in that button.

Bump because I accidentally made a duplicate topic and I'm interested in this. This would help when carving out areas, as shift could be used to easily fill anything you accidentally erased.
