Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

There used to be a rep counter under people's names, that was removed (I'm not entirely sure why, I can't remember) - why not have woots displayed under the post count.
As if there was any confusion

We don't want woots to become a competition, because then people will be actively seeking woots.
Currently woots work well because they are worthless. What I mean by this is that woots are only there as a hint as to what posts people found funny, or interesting, or important.
Making woots counted would lead to people wanting to have the highest number of woots, and would create unnecessary drama.

then why does this exist?

There's a difference between a count being actively tracked by your name and a fun little leaderboard script that Diff posts every once in a while. If it was always next to your name, it would just be a constant, active, and drama inducing contest that's built into the website, where the leaderboards are just a cool statistic posted occasionally that don't lead to meaningless woot begging and spamming because it's infrequent and focuses on individual posts rather than users for the most part.

Exactly. The leaderboard is more like a "best moments" kind of thing. A personal counter is more like a "how cool is this user" kind of thing.

Why do we still have woots? EE has no woots...
Everybody edits, but some edit more than others

Because the idea is good and still EE related - a way to say "I agree with you" rather than just a like count which for a community is surely better.

Woot as an acronym, can mean Waste of Our Time or Way Out of Topic (online forums)
Definitely EE related!

That was the point.
Anyways back to the topic:
I don't think that woots should be displayed as a number but more as an ratio.
Eg.: This users is: -5 / 5 hilarious.

isn't all life just waste of our time?
on-topic: i don't think it would be a competition, because woots are used to give for posts that you think they had a good point.

Yes, life is a waste of our time
nihilism
but really, if we are simply due to the insane probabilities of time and space, what purpose do we have? It seems that we would need not a purpose, as the universe and time are infinite while we are not.

We have a post count, don't we? I don't see any harm in having a woot count, especially since there aren't negative woots.
