Why is there a report button for people who are already banned?

Why are there report buttons for posts whose authors are banned? If I reported their post, it wouldn't do any good because they're already banned and it just makes more work for the mods to just ignore the report.

if you get banned for doing something and you have something else that is also bannable, ANOTHER warning is added and the ban is extended

let's take bots for example:
let's say xbot101 spams five times but only three topics get reported
so xbot101 will be banned but there'll still be two topics -- that, by your logic, shouldn't be reportable -- just out and about.

honestly it's probably 2 much work 4 the great almighty forum gods

and no the bans don't get extended cuz that isn't how the warning system works

and i also don't think this has even occurred so it's not a huge deal.

although perhaps being able to limit like, five reports per post so we don't get report spammed by people reporting spam bots.

and technically this belongs in forum discussion so away we go

To add to what Zoey said, warnings aren't the only reason posts are reported. You report to lock and move topics, too.
