Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: [suggestion] all page links in a topic (hover over '...')

But what if the page count is much higher than 11? do all the numbers show up? if yes, it would be invasive if the page count happen to be high. If no, then the problem is still not solved, since there is the ... again.
If this feature is still wanted though, I may [try to] make a similar system for the EE forums pagecounts

or it could be used as a "page search-bar" by clicking on it and entering a number

10 years and still awkward. Keep it up, baby!

Well some subforums have way too many pages for this to be possible. I think some man's idea is good though.

@Era
I was somewhat considering throwing that idea out.
Say, if you're 0-999, you pick 100,200,300,400 etc... then 10,20,30 etc, then 1,2,3, etc
0-99, 10, 20, 30, etc.
sorta recursive.

But if 10 choices is too much, we could do 5... y'know.
Just thoughts.

This one seems a lot more intuitive, and easier to use [and implement]

But then that defeats the point of it, because it becomes slow and just changing the page number in the url is quicker. That's why I think some man's idea is the best.

why would it becom slow, please explain.
also it would only magnify the selection again if you have a topy that has that many pages.

Well say you want to go to page 169. It's much quicker to just type the number 169 than to click 100, then 60, then 9.

Re: [suggestion] all page links in a topic (hover over '...')

[my take of] the idea here is to eliminate clicking -- it's simply a hover from determining one digit to the next. It's faster than typing in the address because your hand is already on the mouse. Either you have to slide the mouse up to the address bar (or position your hands on home row to hit CTRL+L), move your hands to either section of numbers, punch them in, hit enter, and return to the mouse.

With the alternative, we leave the hand on the mouse, move to a location guaranteed to be closer than your address bar, and simply hover through digits.

This works best for me, at least, because I don't like to run my hands around too much. If I can say in one spot, I'm well off.

Re: [suggestion] all page links in a topic (hover over '...')

Here's my idea which could be usable with mouse-only while also allowing typing the page number:
pic.png
This way, there's no limit on the page count (if the forums start having more than a thousand pages, we may even add a -+1000 button, lol)

You can choose between typing in the page number, or clicking the buttons. Simple //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

EDIT: paint FTW //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/big_smile

Re: [suggestion] all page links in a topic (hover over '...')

But wait, the nth option:

Let's just make a userscripts option that does all the mods, instead of making an admin decide. !!!

I actually halfway made a script that allowed me to dock the "quick reply" section to the page so I could scroll around. Quite useful... also added the extra bbcode tags which are missing...

food for thought folks

I mean I was going to go with Jonathan's option since it seems like a nice compromise and it's also about all I can do with my javascript skills but sure userscripts are nice too.

EDIT: Beat you to adding all the buttons. Also if you hover over them it describes the button and gives an example.

Re: [suggestion] all page links in a topic (hover over '...')

OH that's what's going on.

I was sorta confused... because who needs to move pages by hundreds? seems odd.

But that seems like a really good compromise. Not as easy as actually just moving the mouse, but keeps the box there...

I see how this is good.

Edit:
oh rite, good job with the buttons
I thought I might've spurned such an update, but I dared not boast it.
thanks btw
