Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

You also couldn't click any links or select text in the oldspoilers without them closing, forcing you to scroll all the way back up to reopen them then try to find the spot you were at again.
Maybe I could add like a bar down the left side where you could click it to hide it.

Clicking anywhere inside a spoiler used to close it. When you put multiple spoilers inside each other, it meant it acted pretty screwy. If you had 2 nested spoilers, clicking the outside one and then the inside one would close the outside one so you would have to reopen the outside one to see the inside one and wow I'm not explaining this very well am I?
In other news, I've added a few words to the forum's spamfilter.

After seeing some of the latest spambots we've seen, I've tweaked a few things on the forums. In addition to urls, new users aren't allowed to post images on their first post. I also added a few new words to the spamfilter.

This is mainly for the fail forums, but since it also impacts the ~12 people who actually visit the forum chat room, I'll post it here as well. The chat log searchy thingy got revamped. It's now 100% less slow (still slow), formatted a bit better, and orders logs based on channel and the log date. Also it's now case sensitive because all that case insensitivity was what was really dragging down the speed.

Fixed a minor glitch left over from scraping was fixed where some
[quote]s
would show up as <div class="quotebox"><blockquote><div> and break the rest of the topic.

Basically
when I scraped all the forum posts from Meredith, I got HTML, not the actual BBCode itself. I had to make basically an un-parser, that took HTML and turned it back into BBCode again. It worked 99.9998% of the time, but for the leftover 0.0002%, it didn't properly turn "<div class="quotebox"><blockquote><div>" back into its BBCode equivalent of [quote ], so some posts were left with [/quote ]s without a matching [quote ]. This broke things.

oic
Is that the thing where multiple posts are contained in quote boxes which belong to another post (posts inside first post) or something like that?

Yeah something like that. It'd look like this:
EDIT: Hold on that screenshot didn't work out. Taking another one.

Removed the perpetual announcement and rewrote the welcome PM to include it.
Welcome to the forums, <username>!
There's a lot to know here before you get started, but I'll let you figure out most of it yourself and just give you a few important tips to get you started.
First things first: accounts. If you've signed up for an account either on ee.forumify.com, or eeforumify.com (and ONLY those), and you still remember your username, you can ask that your new account be merged with your old one. Hop on over to this topic and follow the instructions there to get your stuff back.
Next, introductions and spam. To prevent spam bots from posting, you can't use links, images, or certain key words in your first post. Once you make that first post you can continue on your merry way. Why not use that first post to introduce yourself to the forums and tell us a bit about yourself?
Next, the rules. Yeah, I know they're boring, but you really should at least gloss over them a time or two. I promise it'll only take a minute. A few people skip reading the rules but then get mad when it comes back to bite them. Don't be one of those guys. Please. Every time one of those guys shows up, a piece of me dies. ;_;
Now for the less important, more informational stuff. You might see people on the forums emphasizing words with bold text or putting in fancy images. Wanna know how you can get in on the action? Fortunately for you, our Forum Mod Zoey2070 made a lovely guide on how to do just that. Just try not to go too overboard on the colors.
How about smilies? We've got almost all of the EE smilies built into the forums here, ready for you to use in any post. Want to know how? Check out this handy list I made.
Alright, last thing. Make sure you read the stickied topics in any forum you're about to post a topic in. There may be some forum-specific rules that aren't mentioned anywhere else. You won't get warned for it, but you might get some grief over it if you choose to ignore it.
Well, that's it. If you need anything else, just ask. You can reply to the PM here, I promise I'll respond back as quick as I can.
See you around,
Different55

The forums now adjust their width to the device that they're displayed on. It's a rough way to make the site easier to view on mobile devices, and I'll be working on it more in the future to remove clutter from smaller-screened devices to make better use of the space. As it is, it's just a horizontally shrunk version of the main site.

This change makes it only harder to read posts. Especially quotes.

Well I was planning on just checking the forums on my phone before heading off to sleep but because I love you guys I will turn it off real quick until I'm ready to actually mobilify it instead of faking it.

It'd be less troublesome to just tackle the root of the problem and put an end to these pesky spambots. Or better yet, since they appear on almost every forum that exists just ignore them.

What is this advertisement above? It's annoying me.
This is a false statement.
