It's a useless feature added with the purpose of keeping the updates coming, were they useful or absurd.
Personally would beg to differ. It's great to filter people using the teams doors/gates, but also through a bot.
I like the team stuff.

I'd prefer to store players in different lists client-side than keep a table updated accordingly with the player team changes.
[Edit] Meh, might be a bit useful if you're filtering players without a bot though.
