PSA: Minimodding

There's been like 3 people today who've all been minimodding so apparently I need to do this.

What's minimodding?

Minimodding is when you post as if you were a moderator, when you should just report the post and let a mod decide the correct course of action. Today, this has mostly consisted of users telling other users that they're being off-topic.

Why is minimodding not okay?

To put it simply, because you're not a mod. Let us do our job. Some random user telling other users to get back on topic has no weight behind it. When a mod says it, the users know that if they don't shape up then we're going to start warning people. We can't do that if you try to beat us to it.
If you say it instead of us, then somebody continues to be off-topic, it puts us in an awkward position because we never asked them to get back on topic in the first place.

Remember, when you see something that needs a mod's attention, use the report button, which is just to the left of the Woot button in the bottom right hand corner of every post.
