Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Pointless pop up messages must go!

First pop-up: the warm welcome players receive upon entering EE.
OMkEVBi.png
Not only are there 5 woots at the bottom, not 10, but the entire idea of this is, for lack of a better word... pointless.
I already know I have 10 woots. I can read the top bar.
LNGQZjw.png

Do you see these windows every time you log on?
Welcome back! You have 694 energy!
Welcome back! There are 313 players online!
Nope. So don't do it for something as minor as woots.

Second spam message: Winning a level.
ZOFt9wW.png
Yes, the System in chat has told me that I have won the level.
Yes, I can see the "Go to lobby button," there's no need for that.
Yes, I know I can woot a level if I want to.
I know what smiley I am wearing.

Do we have messages like these?
Congratulations! You touched a cake and became a party smiley!
Congratulations! You spawned in "Heroic Quest 1 Town"!
Congratulations! You were given edit!
Congratulations! The game is wasting your time and game space to give you information you already know!

No. Why should players put up with this?

Re: Pointless pop up messages must go!

I think the "woot" message should only appear on your second day playing, and any time you go a full day without logging in.

Perhaps the win message only appears in levels you do not own or have edit in.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh sounding in my statements, though that was not the intention. I was going for a more sarcastic tone rather than whining, I'll edit my post.

Why is it even needed? What value does it have? I can't see any. //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/sad

I have never really been bugged with it. To be honest, I think things like the "invalid command" popups are more disturbing.

Yes, those are indeed annoying. Though I refrained from mentioning those because they provide information that you don't already have. Perhaps all pop-ups should just be gotten rid of.

Perhaps a winning music tune could compensate for that. Woots and coins have sound effects already.

Re: Pointless pop up messages must go!

I don't have a problem with the win message. It's just that after you win, they remind you of the options that you have. For example, I bet a lot of worlds would have less woots without the win message.

I don't want to sound cynical here but I'm sure if a level was really good people wouldn't just "forget" to woot.

If a world needs a win message in order to gain woot then its not good enough (my opinion atleas).

Re: Pointless pop up messages must go!

I agree the pop-ups are annoying as they are now. It would be better if they were replaced by smaller pop-ups that appear in the corner of the screen and disappear on their own after five seconds or so.

Re: Pointless pop up messages must go!

You have a point Badoosh but still, imo these little details makes the game more fancy, especially for new users, I have to admit tho, seeing them everyday, they do get a little annoying.

Re: Pointless pop up messages must go!

The win message is nice, but I think the "Go to lobby" button in it should be removed. I have never had a use for it, and it has made me accidentally leave long levels that I just beat.

I agree, these windows are pointless and should be removed.

Re: Pointless pop up messages must go!

Either make an option to disable them, because new players might be like "oh cool look at the options I have", but then later get annoyed.
Or just delete them altogether.

not all the popups are annoying
but the unknown command popup is just why
who thought making a popup for an unknown command was a good idea

Well, you do just "forget" to woot. If it's not already a habit, then it's likely that you will forget. I guess this is mostly useful to newer players. But even if you're not new, you might not have gained a habit of wooting, because you don't have the same sort of habit outside of EE (after completing a game, you don't feel the need to press a button to show your appreciation).
