Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I'm a big fan of old photos, especially with old trains and train stations, I have a big collection of photos and stuff and one day I was playing with colors and filters on Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 learned how to add colors and since then I started to restore photos and add colors to them, mind you I'm not an expert nor I get the same success with every photo but I'm getting better, they are all super different and adding colors is mostly based on common sense and a lot of improvisation. The fun part is that it takes around 10-15 minutes to restore or add colors on pure black and white photos, the difference is huge and adds a lot of life into them. The down side is, colors have to be very vague and pale because the more color or details I add certain photos end up with less quality but that's not always the case, anyway here are few random examples. I'll might add more in the future. If you have a special photo you want to fix I could give it a try but I can't guarantee you anything.

Well tbh, my patience is limited but in this case it's rewarding enough to invest 10-15 minutes, now and then.
That's really cool
Thanks, glad you guys like it, I wasn't expecting that.

These are awesome, Dazz!
The only one I slightly dislike is the third because of the green tint, but imagine you did that to make it look older?

ok dazz
quick pingohits lesson
never, EVER write such a large block of text. ill fix this for you in case someone actually wants to read it
It's kinda hard to explain but I'll give it a try.
Practically on a complete black and white photo ofc there are no other colors so in order to full the eyes I have to add a very vague color especially when there are big chunks of ''empty space'' like big walls, sky, land, this is super easy while the photo was taken outside because usually I can use blue for the sky, yellow on the ground as ''sunlight'' etc.
Sometimes if I can't use those or the angle of the sun makes no sense to abuse yellow, I have to come up with a reason to add that certain color, so in this case the reason was based on common sense, the whole wall being white, white reflects light, there were two big, green trees there so...
As you can see there is more green next to the trees and less in the middle because the sun light was right above the people and trees.
Ofc it doesn't look perfect, while I play with filters to make that green fade away other colors get worse and if I play too much to correct some details I end up with other visible imperfections and so on, there are a ton hex ways and hues to keep changing each and every color but it will never look perfect.
As an example, look at the first photo, because of lack of light if you look carefully there are pink-ish blobs all over, fixing those too would take more time and I will end again with less quality.
So instead of trying to reach some weird ''digital'' perfection that will make the whole photo look like and animated postcard and end up with a low quality photo, I prefer to stay in between and try to find a balance, adding a little bit of color and keep as much as possible the original quality of the photo.
Meh, sometimes it looks great other times there might be certain things exaggerated or too pale or idk
i also fixed some grammar issues
