Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

[SOLVED] Is the max speed of block placement relative to your lag?

So, I saw that a lot of people can just place blocks normally on a delay of just 10ms.

Though for me 49ms makes my bot miss some block placements, while a delay of 50ms makes everything work just fine.

Is this because of how much lag I have? How fast/slow my laptop/pc is?
Or solely because I'm doing something wrong in my code?

I think it can be your connection. Or yahoo's slow servers.

After having helped a guy with placing blocks I asked for his minimum delay. His and of somebody else could place blocks just fine on a delay of 10ms.
While they made their posts I was constantly trying to figure out my minimum, ending up with the absolute max of 1 block every 50ms.

Sometimes it also take several seconds for me to toggle god mode.

Strange thing is that I always have near the best and fastest connection when playing other (heavier) games...

Yes it sounds strange if you have good connection when playing heavier games. Must be something with yahoo's servers and you.

Speedtest:
ping: 12ms
ds: 121.65 Mbps
us: 12.42 Mbps

Really I should be able to upload a couple ints and Strings at a proper speed with that...

Edit:
pinging everybodyedits.com
results into an average ping of 130ms
Same for yahoo.com
results in average of 180ms

Just used cmd for this quick test.

This has nothing to do with my mouse as it's a bot that is placing the blocks
Oh, amd btw, yesterday I somehow got it to function on a delay of 35ms, so that's a great reduction.

Re: [SOLVED] Is the max speed of block placement relative to your lag?

It indeed depends on your connection's speed and the ping.
'Tomhawk' has a damn fast connection and he can place blocks faster than anyone else if it wasn't for the server to delay them.
And he showed me in a remake where blocks wont be delayed.
However, the server itself does delay blocks which's the reason I can't place blocks faster than 7 ms without missing blocks.

The maximum place speed without skipping blocks is 10ms, or 100 per second. If it's higher/lower it's likely due to the latency between you and EE.

A home connection will likely be way higher, running a bot on a VPS with decent bandwidth (100Mps+) located near the EE servers would help a lot.

Player Since 2011. I used to make bots and stuff.

Really have no knowledge about server stuff and such, so currently just trying to optimize my bot and try to make it as quick as I can.

Wifi can substantially increase the lag, especially in a crowed environment. Try using a wired connection when possible.

Always have wired because my laptops wireless adapter acts strange at times...

Currently I place all block at a 10ms delay, check which blocks I missed, create a new list containing only the blocks a list, loop through that with a 10ms delay again etc. etc.
The speed differs at times, but usually it's faster, and when it's faster it also had a bigger difference than when it's slower.
