Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

[Beta; need testers!] EE level recommendation system

New! Quick one minute survey! Enter in worlds that you like/don't like! http://goo.gl/forms/RmWgd8ttDO

Introduction
This application recommends EE levels (rooms) to you, based on your user data. It is highly dependent on EE Analytics.

Credits
- Thanel
And everyone else! Thanks for the input so far!

Tags are short descriptions of what is in a level. For example, a tag might be a minigame, a boss, or anything else.

For example, a tag can generalize a game into something more specific: static->game->minigame->difficult->very difficult->author: someone
                                                                                                                                              ->easy->very easy->100 quick mini games

Tags are important because they help group levels together, and make the recommendations more relevant. Levels will be programically categorized based on blocks, user behaviour, level title, and a bit of human intervention.

For example, the minigame tag could have some subtags like: infinity, lava, easy, blue, red, green, glitches, insanity, magic, rainbow.

Well, this reminds of mylo's website which had a like system next to the embedded game. Although, his website only showed the ranking of top liked levels currently, yours could be designed similarly if it's going to be a website.

That sounds really interesting; do you happen to have a link to his website? His might be what I'm looking for.

I don't think the website is still up, but there is a video of the website made by him. "Redefined"

EDIT: The old forum topic is actually still there too, I forgot. http://eeforumify.com/viewtopic.php?id=26242

Thanks! Unfortunately, (as you said) the website, one bitly link, and the ee forumify post have been deleted.

There's probably a reason why Mylo took it down, not sure why though.

EDIT: thanks for that forum post link! I made a false conclusion that the forum post didn't exist because the bitly link went to a 404 page on eeforumify.

What would you like to see in the ee recommendation system?

Nope. The page doesn't work anymore; I just checked. But it does seem like a really good idea. I'm tired of entering worlds that seem interesting and it turns out to be stairs

Well, it depends on if the player likes stairs //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile but I understand your point, though.

This sounds like a great idea. I'm not sure if I'd be willing to give up everybodyedits.com though so you'd have to make the design really beautiful and responsive (:

Re: [Beta; need testers!] EE level recommendation system

So sort of like a recommended levels list? Sounds good. How would you categorise the levels to find out what kind of levels a player likes? I guess you could do it by the title, the creator and maybe even world size, but there's more to a world than that.

It could be as a browser addon, in which something appears next to the level on the everybodyedits.com website.

Right now, we're not sure exactly how it'll recommend levels, maybe finding players with similar interests. The crawler records and analyzes all events (except chat), and knows which worlds you've been to, for how long, how much you interacted with it, how many woots you gave it, how many times you returned, whether you were kicked, how far you travelled, interactions with other players, how quickly you completed the level compared to others, how long you idled in the level, title of the level (to an extent), your magic class, whether you were god mode at any time*, your profile (which items you bought and when*), how often the level was changed/modified, how many users played the level, how many people were in the room when you were there, and much more.

Edit: the problem is, we might need much more data than we have now, possibly years and years worth of events, in order to get an accurate prediction. However, we'll see what we can do.

Oh, that does sound cool. I would install it.

Re: [Beta; need testers!] EE level recommendation system

I'm going to get this started up again soon. Would anyone like to be a case study model?

I ask this because I'm going to probably post your name a lot, and post a list of levels that you might be interested in, along with other people who might be interested in them too. Since they include worlds that you visited, it might be considered private. If a staff member of EE says that this information is not private, I'll choose a bunch of people at random (to make things faster.)

Oh yeah, forgot about this. I wouldn't mind being a case study model. And btw your google form doesn't work.

Re: [Beta; need testers!] EE level recommendation system

I did something about node edge weights and I have a list of levels that you might like skullz17.

It was completely automated, except I got rid of some which were virtually empty, or were changed so much that the level was completely different. I'm not sure if you've already visited these worlds or not. One stands for most liked and 11 is the least.

11. (this one contained a swear word in the title, so I assumed that the world creator did not want it shared.)

If they're not good suggestions be honest! There is a lot of work that needs to be done in developing the algorithm.

Re: [Beta; need testers!] EE level recommendation system

1. Cool. I visited this world a couple of times. I wouldn't say it's that great, and I probably won't visit it much, or at all. It can be fun at times, I guess it's alright. I think it needs more help for new players though, because I really did not understand the gameplay at all at first. I still don't, to be honest.
2. Hard to tell because it's a zombie level and there aren't many people in there atm, but the map design doesn't look that great. It looks okay, but in terms of gameplay, there isn't much fun or interesting about it. Didn't like it.
3. Looks kinda nice in game in some areas, but it's pretty boring.
4. Definitely like Bombot.
5. Wouldn't usually play these types of worlds, unless they belong to my friends or a lot of my friends are there.
6. Didn't play much of it, but it seems to be uninteresting, boring minigames - not my type of world.
7. I'm kinda blocked off from most of the level. Curse tag is usually fun, but I can't see the actual map, so idk.
8. This actually looks like it could be fun. Haven't played it with zombies in the level though, so I can't give a proper opinion.
9. Same as #6.
10. It's pretty empty atm. The title says Hotel, and I wouldn't play hotel worlds. I do like RP sometimes, but only with friends. Though, the world atm seems more like a free edit type thing, but I wouldn't play those either.

Overall, I didn't like most worlds, and there are only a few that I liked. I don't know if this is because of your algorithm; it could just be because there aren't that many worlds in the lobby that I might like (or it could be both).

Thanks for the feedback! I revised it a bit, here are some newer ones (if you have time). There was a bit of pruning to get rid of some invisible worlds and blank ones, and empty levels (as you said)

Ignore the numbers to the left; * means it predicts will be your most favorite from the list, ** is the least, no star means unknown

I think I have found a pattern. Hmm. I'll try a Markov-cluster unsupervised algorithm next and see how that fairs.

Re: [Beta; need testers!] EE level recommendation system

1. I only went here once for a short time, and it was after the "party". I don't really care about this world //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue
2. I would say this is an okay level. Definitely not my least favourite. It probably thought it was my least favourite because while I was there before, I expressed my dislike of the minis. And yeah, I do dislike the minis. But compared to what you usually get in the lobby, they're okay. And the art looks really nice.
3. I enjoyed it. Stuck around in this level for quite a while last time. Mostly afk. But I still enjoyed the level while I was actually playing it.
4. I enjoyed this one too. A nice use of the new blocks, as well as a way to explain how they work.
5. Same as #1 from before (warbot).
6. Played this one a long time ago. I don't think I finished it, but I remember it being pretty good. Probably the best level on this list.
