Subscribes automatically on threads

The forums keep on automatically subscribing me to threads. I have the option of subscribing every thread I post to at off and when I hit the link that let's me unsubscribe, it just says that I haven't subscribed it, and then continues sending me messages.

Have you tried unsubscribing from the topic itself?

There is no button for that, but instead the subscribe to this thread button.

What if you subscribe then unsubscribe?

BTW, you can find a list of topics you're subscribed to on your profile page.
