Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Warning Blotter

Can we please have the feature, like on the last forums, which tells us who got warnings and why? I would just be curious to know. (It's also my daily circus and bread of EE).

kthx.

Re: Warning Blotter

We will have this thing. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But someday we will have this thing.

Not today because today is pretty much all gone and not tomorrow because I have some horrifyingly tedious homework that I've been procrastinating just a little too long on.

I disagree. It's like high school gossip.

Why do you need to know?

Well it could potentially cause the user that gets the warning to think twice about it since the warning will be public, but since I've seen 3 people openly share their warnings, I have my doubts on it.

I've been hesitant about adding it but so many people are asking for it that it's on my to-do list now. I never added it, that was Atilla and Meredith on eeforumify.com. They also added in being able to view all recent warnings on a page.

Reasonably: Because I'd like to know when people are banned, why they were banned, so it feels the moderation is reasonable and not bias. Not that I doubt D55 and Zoey, because they have always been good people, but it's still good to know.

Unreasonably: Because it's fun to see all the stupid reasons people get warnings and laugh at them.

Re: Warning Blotter

It's not really any of anyone else's business why people are getting warnings, it just seems like a port for drama and gossip which is really not needed. People won't be deterred by having naming and shaming as most posts which warrant warnings I doubt the poster is thinking "I might get a ban for this, oh well it doesn't matter". If someone feels that they have been unfairly warned/ban they can take it up with the mods, Difference and Zoey are reasonable people, I am sure they would explain to you why you have been penalized, and give you a chance to tell them if they are in the wrong.

Re: Warning Blotter

For Saintcool's reasons, this shouldn't really be implemented. I come from forums where this isn't available, for those exact reasons. It's not anyone's business what mistakes you make, and that will just cause drama. If anything, it would make offenders more popular than deterred. It might also get them bullied out of the forums for maybe even a minor offense (I've seen cases of this)
If someone's post is given a verbal warning, you can probably do the math. If it's a private PM warning, it should stay private. I think if a mod warns someone privately, why should it then be publicised?

It's not really anyone else's business when there's crime in a neighborhood, but we have police blotters anyway to tell us what's up. It's just a way to make sure moderation is being done reasonably well. I trust Zoey and D55, but I still like to see what's going on behind the scenes.

Re: Warning Blotter

Okay, now there's too much resistance for the idea for me to add it. Instead I made a knew "why were they banned" topic. Nobody had a problem with it for the years it existed before so I'm hoping there's still no problem.
