Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Limited Player Gate

How about adding a gate like block that would allow only a certain number of players at a time and would close after the preset number of players passes through and would open back up if one or more of the players that passed through died or activated a switch to remove them as a tracked player connected to the gate? Gates and switches like this would be useful for making attractions like tag with a limited amount of players or survival games with only a select few heroes and hunters or villains.

Re: Limited Player Gate

You could use it to split up players, if you put a column of them 1 space apart in descending value then players would be separated into their own floors - not sure what the use of that is, but someone will figure it out.

Re: Limited Player Gate

How would it know whether a player is through the gate or not? Just if they touch it? Because if that's the case, they could just touch it, then leave the 'area', and it would still count. I suppose there would have to be a way to choose the area they have to be in to count as a player that went through the gate. How do you suggest that should be done?

My idea was that the block would track the player until they died, left the world, left the area of effect (if it is possible to set one), or touched a switch that stopped the tracking effect. I should warn that unless you use the zone option, you should not place a checkpoint after the gate, and if you do use a zone, don't place a checkpoint within. A way to do a "zone of effect" that I can think of is to connect the gate to a backdrop so that the area of effect is anywhere that has the connected backdrop, possibly also adding a special backdrop used for said zones that could be ID'd.

I think ID'd special backdrop and gates would work well.

Re: Limited Player Gate

I could also think of using them to limit the players trying a challenge, and if set to one, they would have to figure it out themselves and not just wait and watch someone use it, useful for puzzles.

Re: Limited Player Gate

I think a better way to do that would be to have potion blocks instead of potions, and use a potion of solitude on everyone.

have you used a potion of solitude before? im not sure that it hides all players in all forms, or just hide them on minimap. Either way, a flaw with the potion of solitude is that it only lasts 5 minuets so someone could easily wait it out then watch others complete the puzzle.

Re: Limited Player Gate

I have used the potion of solitude before, and it does hide players in game. I'm not sure if it hides them from the minimap, but I'll try it out and see. Also, if we had potion blocks, then maybe we could set the time that it lasts.

It seems potion bricks are getting even more complicated now, even if you could set potion duration, certain potions, like zombie or curse, would not be useable in them without having a default setting.

that may work for that scenario, but I still have a world where, to do what I want without constantly monitoring it, I need gates that limit players after it, or as I called it in the title, limited player gates. (working on a FNAF level, only want one "guard" at a time and possibly a limited amount of "animatronics" (zombies))
