It's very simple, if you look the image on a higher position, you will see white and gold.
If you see the same image on a deeper position, you will see blue and black.

The white is a tiny bit bluish but it's still obviously white and gold.

I've seen it look easily black and blue on some screens. I can see it black and blue on this topic, and I can also see it white and gold. Look at this: http://www.wired.com/2015/02/science-on … lor-dress/ . Do the tilting thingy, except compare the middle image and the right image as you go back to your normal position. It might take a while but it will look blue and black eventually.

Yeah, I agree it doesn't deserve the amount of attention and discussion (if you can call most of it that) that it got.

But seriously, if it was popular because people want to learn about something interesting, it wouldn't be this popular. I think it's popular because people just like the feeling of being part of something big (ie woo we all see black and blue, you white and gold ppl suck).
