Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

What do we do with the EE staff?

Right now, I'm putting the Guardians and EE Admins into their own user groups for easy identification. EE Admins will get the ability to make new topics in Game Business. After this, it's up to you guys to choose what you want to happen to the EE Staff on the forums as far as their powers and responsibilities on the forums.

My two cents on the topic are:
The forums and the game have always had separate moderation (excluding EE admins, who have been forum admins as well), even when the forums have been official. I think that's a nice system.
Also, I'm not sure that we should give Guardians the power to moderate here, because then they might feel obligated to do so. As it's been pointed out to me, moderating either area is a hard enough task on its own, I'm not sure anyone can do both.

Well it shouldn't be mandatory if you're an EE guardian to be a forum... guardian.

I like how it used to be with them more or less separate. Like you say they're busy enough.

Re: What do we do with the EE staff?

lets say ee and eeforums are two seperate empires

the nobles (guardians) run one, and the civilians run the other

if the nobles (guardians) run both, it would feel like a dictatorship, because the civilians have no power to moderate something by their own

by civilians, i mean regular EE people that are neither a guardian or a moderator on EE. They are simply regular users that have powers on the forums, simply put

Re: What do we do with the EE staff?

Having two separate staff teams will prevent people from complaining about in-game bans from actions on the forums (or vice-versa).  However, I think the game staff should have some moderation abilities over the forums.  Moderating a forum will not intrude on moderating a game, but in order to keep things fair, game staff should not have have total control over the forum.

Also, all game staff should be given the title "Game Staff".  Mods and guardians are equally important, and should not be labeled different.  This might also clear up some confusion.

Just because you're equally important doesn't mean that you don't have different roles to play. Same reason Forum staff is separated into Moderators and Administrators. Some problems can't be solved by a Guardian, and need to be brought to an admin. I don't see the point in confusing things by labeling you all the same thing.

Re: What do we do with the EE staff?

I completely agree with the forum staff and EE staff being separate.  That should eliminate a lot of issues.

And I see your point.  But having their title as just "Guardian" might seem like they could forum staff.  Maybe not for older players, but younger players might be a little confused.

What if mods were "EE Moderator" and guards were "EE Guardian"... just a suggestion.

We should burn them! I think we should add EE admins as minor moderators (Official Business and Game Discussion moderators), we don't need the guardians as forum staffs.

This is a false statement.

Guardian sounds too mainstream

Here are some that you would like:

Vigilante
Overseer
Sentinel
Trustee
Praetorian

Re: What do we do with the EE staff?

Okay, fun fact: The KKK has really great puns for all their stuff. It's glorious and kind of sad. Their ritual book is the Kloran. Like Koran/Quran but... Kloran. I laughed so hard I cried.
I suggest this for all EE purposes. see: suprEEme court joke i made a few days ago. GuardEEn. somehow. Granted, people with English as a second language might not apprEEciate (cough) that.

Basically, what I was thinking was:
- admins/gold names are made admins on the forums (or maybe just NVD). "EE Administrator" or whatever their "official" title is -- just because it's almost a rule with Chris, RPGMaster2000, and MrShoe.
- guardians/grapejuice names are in a special usergroup with a title of "EE Guardian" or something, don't have moderation privileges.

Forum mods/admins just say "Forum Administrator" or "Moderator" (because EE is too complex to just use "moderator" instead of "guardian".)
Also, give EE staff forum name colors matching their ingame ones.

Re: What do we do with the EE staff?

Pretty sure that's the way it is now.  I don't think the EE staff should be moderating, I guess NVD could since he owns the game.

I would like for the in-game staff to be able to edit each others posts that are made inside of the Game Business.  Nothing else would be necessary.
