You certainly don't have to but your post count would be off and you wouldn't be able to edit any posts that you might want to, although I don't think that's a problem for you. I don't think you're running a crew or posting an ongoing story in creative or anything like that.

I forgot that I was in ownership of theblegg. I suppose I will also be unable to retrieve some of my private messages if that was even going to be poss.

Though making theblegg active again is very unlikely.

Also, I would like my username to be changed to skullz17, if that's possible. I only chose skullz16 because I thought it might give me access to the old skullz16 account. I now realise that makes no sense.

Yep. If you go into your profile, hit show posts, and you can see your old posts, it means you're merged. Post count update isn't instant, I have to manually tell the forums to re-count the posts for each user. I usually do that after I get all caught up with all merges.
