Simply upload the .gif to a image hosting site (unless it is already on a website). Then, link directly to the picture (i.e. the url/web address should end in .gif). Put it in an img tag in your sig and you're done!

Ex.

[img]http://example.com/rawr/picture.gif[/img]

That's because you tried linking the entire page. You must link DIRECTLY to the picture, if I were to go to the linked url the only thing on it should be the picture.   Try right clicking the picture and using the url from the option "Copy image url".
