Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I made a level a while ago saying big spender needed to end, although most people just shrugged it off. They actually thought that Chris could actually USE all that money for the game. Although he took a bad step with diamond blocks. Now if you ask anyone, they'll say "Big Spender is overpriced and it needs to end". Well, I have to say, it is ABOUT TIME! Companies sell games for fifty dollars so that they can pay their hundreds of employies, although Chris doesn't have to pay hundreds of employies. He can get along with just ten dollars per beta customer, and finally, I mean FINALLY people are realizing this! Thank you SO MUCH Chris for making such a stupid move and charging fifty bucks for a block! It may have worked with Big Spender, but it will NOT work here. EDIT: Wow, Chris KNOWS we're not falling for his scam, and he's STILL trying to get us on his side! Now diamond blocks turn players into fake big spenders when touched! Yeah, real funny Chris! Just give up now!

Now the diamond costs $100 (1000 gems)
I hope you are happy about this one. This might make your laugh so hard you will fall off your chair.

I actually agree with you now. And why did you make a second forum account? You had one called "Earth".
And the reason why I finally agree with you is because it's obvious that Chris is just doing this for a profit. The first time (the Big Spender) it was a joke, or so he claimed. Now it's clear that this is simply a way to monetize the game. I can't blame him, though. If the demand is there, why not? But gems-only is discouraging because the game becomes less accessible for less privileged players, and it will keep becoming less and less accessible as Chris adds more gems-only items. I'm sick of it. It's not a joke anymore.

Uh, I couldn't log into my other account for some reason... not sure what went wrong. Had to make a new one. Tomato tomato. (tu-mA-tO tu-mAU-tO)
The prices don't make sense 10 dollars = 6 faces and bricks. 50 dollars = diamond that turns you into a fake big spender.
This must make the real big spenders sad.
50 dollars was okay, for the big spender smiley, saying it would be the only gem diamond and solely for donation.
BUT WHUT? He is going to scam some kids for 1 diamond that costs 100 dollars PER ONE? It turns you into a fake looking silly smiley.
I think Cris is AWESOME
I think Cris is AWESOME
Chris
lol
He's not changing it... He should just end this now. Seriously... it makes me sad.
Don't understand it, You'd be better off buying a regular big spender.
Companies have hundreds of employies, and they only have to charge $50 for an entire game to make enough money to cover it. Everybody edits is as popular as any one of those games, but chris doesn't have hundreds of employies to pay. seriously, he does NOT need all this money.

No one needs money. Your argument is invalid.

Big publishing companies sell millions of copies of games at $60 apiece, while EE has had about 200,000 unique players, many of whom have payed nothing. Your argument is invalid twice.

Good points, although he still doesn't have to pay 100$ for a couple of pixels and half that price for something that does nothing...
yeah I guess Chris is a bit greedy but all the money probably does not go to him.
[...], many of whom have payed nothing.
In all honesty, I'm one of the players who hasn't paid for anything (yet), even though I've been playing the game since the beginning (at Newgrounds). There are three reasons for this:
1. I'm still waiting to see what exactly Chris is up to. He's not just in it for the money, but he is a businessman. (Player.IO is his main project and that's all about making more revenue.) Everybody Edits is his pet project, but he'll grab any opportunity there is to make more money with it. He added the SuperRewards and Gambit options, the Gems, and also the beta version. The latter isn't just another 'Gem thing': Chris is looking for a way to copy Markus Persson's strategy.
2. I've written several free software packages (games and programs). Not just free as in beer, but free as in freedom (GPL). In fact, I advocates the GNU philosophy whenever I can. It is very unlikely that Chris will ever open source his code, let alone make it free software. He alone has total control over Everybody Edits; basically has a monopoly and we're dependent. If, for example, you want icy blocks: tough luck; wait until he adds them and hope he won't charge (too much) money for them.
3. I'm an adult, but I'm unable (and unwilling) to get a credit card, and I do not want a PayPal account. Two people I know had their PayPal accounts frozen and they lost the money in their accounts. Credit cards suck on many levels and PayPal isn't much better. Until Chris allows players to make bank to bank transfers (with IBAN/BIC numbers), I won't be able to transfer any money to his company.
I am willing to send Chris money, but it would be for the traffic costs he has for allowing me to play this cool game. Don't get me wrong, I do think Everybody Edits is one of the most entertaining games ever created, and it's exciting to see what new features got (and still get) added over time. However, some things make me a bit sad, like reading about kids that just managed to save up enough money to buy some virtual property (pixels, the Big Spender) to finally complete their collections, and then see these expensive Diamonds...
I have permanently left the game and forum.
EE is an entertaining game and I enjoyed playing it...
...but it's time for me to move on.

1. I made a fake email and used fake info for the gambit thing. In about two weeks I got only 27 gems and when I checked the email a month later I had about 500 spam emails.:/
2. I don't feel like answering that one....
3. You're an adult? that's kinda sad...
Second half of three. I agree! He's scamming children out of money that they could be sending to a good cause!:(
Guys, it's really simple...
Just don't buy the smiley or the diamond.
3. You're an adult? that's kinda sad...
ESA just published a study that shows that the average game player age is 37 (pdf).
If you become an adult, will you stop playing EE (or even games in general)?
That wouldn't make any sense, because EE is (games are) fun/entertaining.

Probably the only statement in this topic that I agree with^

Yeah, I mean, it's not like Chris is making us buy the big spender or the diamond.
Companies have hundreds of employies, and they only have to charge $50 for an entire game to make enough money to cover it. Everybody edits is as popular as any one of those games, but chris doesn't have hundreds of employies to pay. seriously, he does NOT need all this money.
He needs the money for website hosting, and to keep the game running. Without the money, he would probably still be using an out dated program to do the coding for the game.

um... did nlmdejonge just gravedig? XD
but srsly, it's not mandatory. It doesn't make less priveleged players see the game as less enjoyable. It's not nessecary for having the most fun time ever. IT'S A FEW PIXELS. IT wiLL NOT AFFECT YOUR LIFE. Just let it go.
Ignoring all previous discussion, tl;dr:
Don't you think Chris deserves to make a profit off of a successful game that he has made? Yes, beta does make him money, but why, if the circumstance is there, would you refuse to make more money? There's nothing forcing you to buy the big spender or the diamond, so there's no point in complaining about it. It's a scam, you say? That's in your eyes. Yes, it's really expensive, but you're paying to support Chris, not for a 16x16 block/smiley.
I hate tall signatures.

Ok Planetearth I see your point but I have a different sort of reasoning. See, I only want to have certain blocks and smilies. Just because it's in the shop doesn't me I have to, want to, or are ever going to buy it. If Chris wants to charge $100 for a block I just simply will not buy it. I do not need it, not want it so it does not bother me. Yes I do agree it's overpriced but I don't go off whining about it because I know that even if it was cheap, like 100 gems, or so I still would not buy it. Its is just another block and whether I have it or not doesn't bother me. Unless you are planning on buying one or really want one do not complain about it's price.
I bet even if he did lower it back down to 500 gems no one would buy it anyway. Why? Because hardly anyone really wants it that bad.
