Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Foreign Languages in Chat

capture.png

ZALGRYTH: The majority speak portuguese and spanish dude

He's 100% confident that the majority of this game is Spanish or Portuguese.

Anyone want to back him up?

Actually, the majority is English. After that, it's Polish and Swedish. Then it's French. THEN it's Spanish and Portuguese.

Re: Foreign Languages in Chat

Lol, I've only seen ONE Spanish chatter on Shift. He kept trying to talk to us. Also, Tako, you keep using the wrong therefor/therefore. They're two different words.

Re: Foreign Languages in Chat

I thought it went like this
-America
-Sweden
-Holland
-Poland
-England
-France
I have never seen a Spanish or Portuguese person in the game yet... Maybe its because they don't really speak English considering they are most likely kids who are still learning, so they only probably speak in their native language if they find another person with the same language, but since that doesn't happen much , they don't speak at all? Just my theory //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

EDIT : Whoah posted at exactly the same second as nou o_o

Re: Foreign Languages in Chat

You're under the assumption anyone who speaks English is either American or British. I've seen loads of Dutch people too. I don't think we can really find out where the majority of the playerbase resides unless we ask Chris for some data.

Re: Foreign Languages in Chat

My argument is: since I rarely see any foreign languages in the chat, it's safe to say the majority are NOT from spain or portugal.

And, might I add, makes Spain and Portugal so important? What would lead someone to think that they are the MAJORITY?

Re: Foreign Languages in Chat

For the record: I said Spanish and Portuguese because those are the languages I remembered off the top of my head. I did recall Swedish afterwards, and I know about 2 people who speak French.

I also agree with Nou. Sometimes those people speak English, but I've seen countless people speaking in languages I don't understand.

The reason for this debate is that I showed up in his world and said a sentence in Japanese, in which case he told me not to spam. I told him it was a valid sentence and he said this is an English website. This is where I noticed how wrong he was. Even Chris has a ton of spelling mistakes in this game because he isn't English.

He WROTE the game in english.

To my knowledge, there are not different versions of this game. You must be able to read english in order to register.

Interesting. Spanish and Portugese aren't even listed in the top 10 languages list.

Argh, my bad! *slaps face* I should get some sleep, it's almost 1 AM here.

EDIT: I'm hoping that my post wasn't completely useless since I did provide real statistics.

1AM? Can't pull off late nights? I've been going to bed at like 6am since summer break started... Haha! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

Anyway, I think I'll stop that here before it de-rails the conversation. Thanks for that link, though! It's actually helping my case a bit.

Re: Foreign Languages in Chat

I'm Dutch but I always speak English, even to EDJ who is also Dutch. I just favour English so other people can understand it too. I only switch to Dutch if someone's English is really bad.

Also, America: 350.000.000 inhabitants and first.
Netherlands: 17.000.000 inhabitants and 2nd.
Lol.

College is a bummer. I know how bad it can be, it's very sleep-lacking. That's why I've been sleeping like 12 hours a night since summer started. But look at me! Being off-topic again.

Nou, it's good that you speak English, I've witnessed so many conversations where I had no idea what was going on.

I got owned? I thought we established that Brazil is third-most visited country for EE? I'm surprised you guys haven't seen that many languages being spoken. I see it all the time and I find it somewhat annoying. Maybe I just play too much... lol.
